Hello…we are expecting a baby boy and we are very torn between Lucas or Archie? We really like them both but just can’t decide!

Lucas as it’s more unusual and a better name ime.

Easterbunnygettingsorted · 16/03/2025 16:57

Ds played footy today with a Lucas on the opposite team. Lots of shouting. Made me think of Mucas Mucas. Awful ime..
Luca is better....

WildCherryBlossom · 16/03/2025 16:57

Lucas

Dahlia1234 · 16/03/2025 17:05

Don't like Archie I'm afraid, I prefer Lucas but like Luca more!

Moreteaandchocolate · 16/03/2025 17:12

Both are nice - I think I prefer Archie slightly.

Bluelavenders · 16/03/2025 17:13

I don’t really like either, but would have to choose Lucas

stopringingme · 16/03/2025 17:14

I prefer Archie

BoleynMemories13 · 16/03/2025 17:14

I much prefer Lucas.

Kingsleadhat · 16/03/2025 17:21

I know a Lucas and he is honestly one of the loveliest kids I've ever met. So I'm biased, but I think Lucas is a great name

StrongandNorthern · 16/03/2025 17:32

Lucas, or Luca.

RuthW · 16/03/2025 17:33

Lucas

Archie is a shortening of Archibald.

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 16/03/2025 17:35

I think Lucas is really nice.

SharpLily · 16/03/2025 17:37

Archie is not a name. It's a shortened form of Archibald (can't believe no-one told Meghan and Harry).

Ceh512 · 16/03/2025 17:44

Thanks. We don’t really mind shortened names on the bc so ok with Archie in that respect. My concern with it is whether it’s more of a name for a little boy rather than an adult. With Lucas my DH is worried it would get shortened to Luke which he doesn’t like (but I don’t think that it would).

What’s wrong with Luke? Not Archie.

FionnulaTheCooler · 16/03/2025 17:49

I like Lucas a lot. Archie is OK, but I prefer Lucas.

BoleynMemories13 · 16/03/2025 17:53

I've never known any of the boys around me called Lucas get shortened to Luke. They're two different names to me.

Emanwenym · 16/03/2025 17:53

I prefer Luke to Lucas, and Luca is faddy.
Not keen on Archie and it gets shortened to Arch.

Emanwenym · 16/03/2025 17:56

@SharpLily , thousands of babies have been registered as Archie so it's a name.

Mmmkaay · 16/03/2025 17:58

I have a Luca and it has never shortened. He's 21 and I seem to meet new ones every year so I don't think its faddy. 😉

Tomatotater · 16/03/2025 17:59

I like Lucas. DH vetoed it for ours because he used to work with a Lucas who was a twat. However I think it would get shortened to Luke ( which I also like!)

YourWinter · 16/03/2025 18:00

I prefer Luca to Lucas, could be a nickname for it though. Really don’t like Archie.

Chuchoter · 16/03/2025 18:00

Lucas.

Ceh512 · 16/03/2025 18:44

Just much prefer Lucas to Luke but to me they are distinct names. Also thought Lucas might get more popular because of Zara (not necessarily a bad thing).

Lucas - Archie, Alfie, Albie etc will date so much.
