Thoughts on this? Personally I'm not keen but DP likes it for our 3rd DD. Think it sounds a bit chavy tbh.

I don't like it, I find it silly.

twilightcafe · 07/03/2025 12:03

I don't like it, for the reasons you gave.

Colinthedaxi · 07/03/2025 12:04

Hate it

purplecorkheart · 07/03/2025 12:04

I am not a fan. I think the same as you.

Firenzeflower · 07/03/2025 12:04

Very popular on estates in London.

Manchesterbythesea · 07/03/2025 12:05

Awful name. There was one in ds’s school last year. No one will ever pronounce it properly either. Sounds made up.
What about Niamh?

Snorlaxo · 07/03/2025 12:06

I agree with you. Would he go for a similar vibe like Nia, Mia, Leah (Leia) ?

Cattery · 07/03/2025 12:06

How would you pronounce the name?

AdventureCode · 07/03/2025 12:06

I like it, it sounds lovely. The one i know is well behaved and very polite so it has a really nice connotation for me. And just because it's a relatively new name on the scene doesn't mean it's "chavvy"

Anonym00se · 07/03/2025 12:09

How is it pronounced? I know people say it’s ‘Neeva’ but that jumble of letters doesn’t spell Neeva. ‘EH’ is an AY sound.

Should it be Nee-vah-ay?

It’s a silly, pretentious and tacky. I much prefer Naimh.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/03/2025 12:11

I've never understood it. Why spell Heaven backwards? Why not forwards? Why not spell other words backwards?

daffodilesque · 07/03/2025 12:12

Horrible

It’s the “heaven spelled backwards” that gives it that impression. Unique spellings are acceptable in places like the US but “creative spelling” will have people judging the child (and parents) before people even meet. (I know the child didn’t pick the name but the child will be an adult one day )

How would you pronounce the name?

Basically Nevea. Nev-ay-a. Some say it Neeva.

MiddleAgedDread · 07/03/2025 12:18

it's tacky

RuthW · 07/03/2025 12:18

It's one of the most chavviest name there is.

ICanTellYouMissMe · 07/03/2025 12:21

But those letters done spell never-ay-a.

They spell nev-ah-ay. Which sounds ridiculous.

So a word spelled backwards which is then mispronounced. Awesome.

TheThreeMiracles · 07/03/2025 12:21

It's really common now

Sassysoonwins · 07/03/2025 12:22

I think the idea of calling your child heaven is a bit odd, saying it backwards to be different doesn't help that oddness. As Pp said, she'll be an adult one day. As someone with a stupid unique name myself don't do it to her.

Deadringer · 07/03/2025 12:24

What about Lleh?

Lifestooshort71 · 07/03/2025 12:25

MistyF · 07/03/2025 12:16

Basically Nevea. Nev-ay-a. Some say it Neeva.

Or Nivea?

NannyR · 07/03/2025 12:25

I actually quite like the sound of the name - the ones I know are pronounced nuh-VAY-ah. It's just the whole heaven-spelled-backwards thing that gives it bad vibes.

oakleaffy · 07/03/2025 12:26

Neveah is Suoedih.
Definitely chavvy.

Moreteaandchocolate · 07/03/2025 12:26

Sorry I don’t like it for the reasons you gave.

I think it sounds too much like Nivea.
