My son and his wife have just called their 😀new baby Kit!
What do we all think of the name?

I like it! Is the full name Christopher or just Kit? Congrats to them and to you on your new grandson ❤️

I like it as a nickname but would've put Christopher on in the birth certificate so he has choices later in life. Congratulations on your grandson!

The name Kit, just reminds me of the car in Knight Rider!! You need to be a certain age to remember that one!! I couldn't call a child Kit, for that reason!

My favourite unused boys name. My surname doesn't suit it, I was very annoyed.

He still has choices, you can change your name at any time. If anything growing up using a name that differs to that on your BC is a bigger pita.

I was a bit shocked as I thought they would choose a more traditional name.
But it has grown on me and now I absolutely love it! He’s a week old tomorrow & gorgeous!

economical and cannot? be shortened, a diminutive of Christopher

It has origins in Greek language and there are plenty of Kit's throughout history including Christopher Marlowe who was known as Kit and Kit Villiers, Duke of Buckinham who was friend to King James the first in early 1600s.. it's not a new name.

It’s my nickname so I’m biased! Bears little resemblance to my actual name though.

I know two baby Kits, one boy and one girl.

OP it is a historical name, Christopher Marlowe for eg., always Kit, great with
a long surname too (like Harington) congratulations, proud grandma ha ha

I would only use as short for Christopher myself, but nn’s as full names are very on trend so it won’t sound unusual among his generation.
