Hi hive mind
I asked a while back about sister names for Juliet.. turns out she’s a boy 😂
What are your thoughts on the following?
Love Edward (like the nn Teddy but is it now overdone? Not so sure about Ed/Eddie)
I love the nn Robbie but less sure about having a Robert
Nicholas (classic)
Frederick nn Freddie
Samuel (Sam)
Louis
Max

any others I should consider? Welcome thoughts!

Juliet is such a stunner - and so classic and elegant sounding that I’d want something similar.

Max is very cool but I feel like Maximilian would work better in style - I really like the sound and look of Maximilian (nn Max) with Juliet.

Frederick, Samuel, Louis, Robert (less keen on Robbie but fine as a nn) are all nice enough, I just like others on your list better.

Nicholas is an underrated and underused classic - just like Juliet. If you can get past hearing “knickerless” (and presumably you can) which I struggle with, then it’s a fab choice with so many cool diminutives too.

Edward is a “can’t go wrong”, timeless classic - and despite its popularity quite elegant sounding to boot imo thanks to its Kingly and Austen/Bronte character imagery. So it would probably be my pick of the lot, although I’m personally less keen on Ed/Eddie or even popular Teddy (though Ed may be inevitable with his friends once a teenager) - but Edward is only 2 syllables so I’d try to keep it as is!

I’d also suggest William or Alexander as similar “elegant” sounding timeless classics imo - and James or John too if you don’t mind or quite like siblings with the same initial.

Frances
James
Nathaniel

Personally I love Robert with nn Robbie. Would take him from working in McDonalds right through to Consultant brain surgeon.

Out of your choices I love Louis,I personally love Laurie ,timeless and Laurence as a grown up if he wants to be serious!
I love Juliette,so classy and lovely.

Notgivenuphope · 06/02/2025 00:35

Nothing ending in ie - just sounds stupid. With a stunning name like Juliet, please give him a proper, strong and noble name. Otherwise it sounds like you have one child and a golden retriever.

Juliette could be shortened to Julie ,likewise with Laurence to Laurie. Both traditional established names.

The first name that came to me was Nathaniel and then l see it was already suggested. Just love that name. And also think Nioclas is fab.
And absolutely not to Teddy..he cannot be a bank manager with that name! And his sister with a beautiful name Juliet.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/02/2025 00:47

Yes, Nathaniel is a lovely idea- similar “uncommon classic” just like Juliet and even though it’s Biblical, it does have obvious literary links like Juliet because of Hawthorne (and a lesser known Shakespeare character too).

chattyness · 06/02/2025 00:49

If you like the nickname Teddy you could call him Theodore instead of Edward, it's a strong name, he could also shorten it to Theo if he wants/likes it

Sebastian

BeNavyReader · 06/02/2025 03:13

Thanks for the comments - names I love but can’t use include Charles, Henry, James and Jeremy. Sebastian is cute but Shakespeare overload as a sibset
My Juliet introduces herself as Juju so hoping that sticks

Juliet and Laurie

shoopshoopdedoo · 06/02/2025 10:44

Love Juliet!

From your list I think that Nicholas and Samuel are my favourites - strong classics that aren’t currently overly popular. I also like Edward and Frederick but I honestly think every baby boy I meet at baby group is Teddy or Freddie.

Love the suggestions of Alexander and Laurie.
