I prefer Henry but I don't like Edwin. I do like Edward though

Springflowersmakeforbetterhours · 19/01/2025 09:35

Springflowersmakeforbetterhours · 19/01/2025 09:35

I don't like Edwin, but both are fine names, just not to my taste. My vote goes to Henry

shoopshoopdedoo · 19/01/2025 09:40

Alexander as first name gets my vote!

Otherwise, I prefer Henry Alexander but both options are nice.

Enko · 19/01/2025 09:45

I love Edwin. Much nicer than Henry

Whatzzitz · 19/01/2025 09:47

Henry is great, not keen on Edwin

Moier · 19/01/2025 09:48

I love Edwin.
Gorgeous name.

Brodpit · 19/01/2025 09:52

I love Edwin! And Henry is one of my favourite boys names. I like two middle names - go for both?

Henry Edwin Alexander Mac sounds super.

user2848502016 · 19/01/2025 09:58

I really like Edwin, Henry is overused I think

RuthW · 19/01/2025 10:00

Edwin. My fav name ever.

Henry too boring and loads about.

Waterboatlass · 19/01/2025 10:02

Oh I love Alexander. Henry out of the two. Edwin fine but I much prefer Edward.

Agreed that Henry Alexander M is HAM. Not the best initials. Not Benjamin Uriel Mac level but not ideal.

AKettleOfDifferentFish · 19/01/2025 10:02

Edwin 😍

Moreteaandchocolate · 19/01/2025 10:02

Henry is my favourite but it’s very, very overused around us and Henry Alexander Mac… would be HAM.

So my vote is for Edwin 😊

BeaAndBen · 19/01/2025 10:04

It’s funny how spelling makes a difference to how a name feels;

Edwin is a pasty faced boy who tells tales on the other kids in an Enid Blyton story.
Edwyn hears the voices of the Old Gods in a Susan Cooper book.

Henry is a dependable all-rounder, unless you’re feeling a bit Francesca Simon.

anicecuppateaa · 19/01/2025 10:06

I have an Edwin….it took me a LONG time to feel comfortable with his name as I had pnd. But now I love it. Henry was on my list too, and dc1 has the middle name alexander, so we clearly have similar taste! I do think Edwin has better nn options for teen years.

LindorDoubleChoc · 19/01/2025 10:07

Edwin is great. I'm not a fan of Henry (sorry all Henrys).

Firsttimebabymummy · 19/01/2025 10:18

Both are lovely! Prefer Edwin though.

caffelattetogo · 19/01/2025 10:34

Love Edwin. Not one you hear every day, either. Four Georges and two Henrys in DC class.

bluebunnys · 19/01/2025 12:28

I prefer Henry

Edwin sounds quite ugly imo

Emanwenym · 19/01/2025 13:22

Edwin but he'll probably be Ed.

WhereAreWeNow · 19/01/2025 13:33

Henry

bridgetreilly · 20/01/2025 21:32

Edwin. Although I think you should consider one of my all time favourite boy names: Hereward.

Googleisyourfriend · 20/01/2025 21:35

Not keen on Edwin tbh

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/01/2025 22:49

Henry (or Edward) or Alexander as a first name for me. I admit I do always love a timeless classic so am biased though. I’d almost prefer surname style Edison or quirky Edgar if classic Edward’s not an option. Edwin feels slightly neither one nor the other to me.
