As simple as it sounds and as common these names are please help me choose one of them:

Eva
Evelyn
Evie

Thank you :-)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bluebunnys · 17/01/2025 22:21

I find them all so overused and unmemorable, sorry.

PickledElectricity · 17/01/2025 22:22

Ava

Mumofgirls2017 · 17/01/2025 22:24

Eva

Notellinganyone · 17/01/2025 22:26

Eva is my name. Growing up in the 70s/80s in the UK it was very uncommon - I’m a teacher so it’s interesting to see its resurgence. I think Evie/Evelyn seem more popular though.

Raggeo · 17/01/2025 22:26

I prefer Evelyn. It's the least popular of the 3 and can also be shortened to Evie or Eva if you wanted to.

MaltipooMama · 17/01/2025 22:29

I would say Evelyn too as you can shorten and have the other two as nicknames. Best of both worlds! 😀

Moreteaandchocolate · 17/01/2025 22:35

I really like Eva and Evelyn. I’d pick Eva as I love short, simple names. Evie could be a nn for either if you / she likes.

Fridaybliss · 17/01/2025 22:42

Would you be put off of Eva if I told you that we are from Germany and she will be “Eh-va”?

Evie and Evelyn have no pronounciation issues…

I think that would sway me towards Evelyn 😊

SkaneTos · 17/01/2025 22:53

I think they are all good names!

I'm Scandinavian, and I pronounce Eva similarly to you, "Eh-va".
Very pretty and classic name.

YesYesAllGood · 17/01/2025 22:57

Eva, Evelyn and Eve are lovely. I find Evie a bit too cutesie though!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/01/2025 23:03

I like a classic name, so of your 3 options I’d pick Eva, as based on past use it seems likely the most timeless of the bunch and is very international (despite potential different pronunciation issues - anyway you’d get that with Evelyn too in many countries).

But personally my favourite of the “Ev”names is short/simple and elegant Eve - it also has a cool vibe to me as a bonus (possibly because it’s one of the few palindrome names or maybe as it’s often used in sci-fi/fantasy films or books because of the obvious first woman/life meaning).

Any of the Ev-names could easily have the Evie nickname though- I think Evie is really lovely but I wouldn’t personally use it as a given name as I think it might date.

Peep23 · 17/01/2025 23:07

Everly?

Catlord · 17/01/2025 23:10

If those are your final choices then Eva. Not Evie.

Eva and Eve quite elegant just heavily over used. Evelyn a bit twee somehow.

Runfaraway · 17/01/2025 23:17

I like Eva (or Evanna).

BootballJoy · 17/01/2025 23:21

I like Eva best then Evie. Not a fan of Evelyn.

GetUpRightNowAndTomatoSalsa · 17/01/2025 23:23

Can I add Evangeline for consideration? SOOOOO pretty.

Also Adeline.

DeadsoulsAngel · 17/01/2025 23:29

I like Everly or Everleigh as an alternative to Evelyn?

Clearinguptheclutter · 17/01/2025 23:33

Evangeline is wonderful
also I considered calling dc (who turned out to be a boy) Genevieve nn Evie

7catsisnotenough · 18/01/2025 00:05

Yvonne as a full name then pick the diminutive you like best?

Notgivenuphope · 18/01/2025 00:07

I went to school with an Evangeline and thought that was so glamorous

Crispynoodle · 18/01/2025 00:20

Evangeline

Everly?

Lovely. Or what about Evangeline?

My little niece's name is Evelie - pronounced 'eh-veh-lie' or Emelie with a v as we often say 😊
My sister found it in a book I believe 🥰

Fromthebirdsnest · 18/01/2025 00:31

All lovely I love Evelyn and you can you either Eva or evie interchangeably as a nickname.. my girls are ellie and Sophie, so very common but I absolutely love their names so don't let it put you off ... congratulations
