So we have definitively decided on the first name of Lilah for our upcoming little girl, and kind of know the vibe we want for the middle name but I feel like there must be so many names we're missing! So my challenge is as follows, if you lovely people could throw your ideas out there I would be very grateful (I appreciate it sounds like I'm giving you a riddle but there lies the challenge) 😂 here we go...!

One syllable (ideally but not essential)
Starting with a consonant but not "L"
Not ending in "A"
No "I" sounds (e.g. Skye)

To give you an idea, I like names like Wren, Jade, Rae, and I don't want a quintessentially English name like Grace, Rose, May etc, they're lovely but not what I'd choose. Really hoping someone has an idea for a slightly different sounding name that's not too out there! Any ideas welcome, thank you! ☺️

We still might, but just thinking there must be loads of names out there that we haven't thought of yet or might be unusual that we haven't heard of, so just trying to get an extensive list so we can sound them out before little one is here

Thank you! Niamh is a lovely name, and part of our baby's heritage is Irish so this is a lovely option. I've never come across Maeve before but it looks lovely written down! Is it pronounced "Mayve"?

If you could convince my partner of that I would be forever grateful 😂 tbh it's my favourite but he's on the fence with it because he can't get away from feeling like it's short for Raymond 😭 I'm thinking if I say it enough times over the next 24 weeks I might be able to wear him down!! 😂

@MistyF yes thank you I'm really happy to hear everything as there might be something that just fits perfectly! Faerie is a new one for me, what is the pronunciation of that?

MistyF · 16/01/2025 13:45

I think it's just Victorian spelling variation of fairy, sometimes used as name

Yes exactly ☺️ it’s Irish too, the modern Irish spelling is Méabh but it’s got a long history: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medb
