How would you rank these three names?

I apparently love French baby names as the top three for boys at the moment are exactly the style my husband and I like. Keen to hear how people personally rank the top three, they are:

Leo, Gabriel, Raphael.

Raphael because l would call him Raph , Gabriel l would call him Gabe and lastly Leo because it's my least favourite

Toddlerteaplease · 31/12/2024 05:36

I wouldn't class them as French. Gabriel and Raphael are angels. Lovely names.

Cakemaker2222 · 31/12/2024 05:36

I’d rank them in the order you wrote them

I'm not sure I'd call those French tbh.
I don't mind Leo, not so keen on the other two.

BoleynMemories13 · 31/12/2024 08:00

Leo top, short and snappy, suits all ages.

Raphael second. A bit of a mouthful but quite a current trend when shortened to Raff or Raffy.

Gabriel by far the last. I feel it's quite a weak sounding name. I can't abide the shortening Gabe.

GetyourheadoutoftheovenIris · 31/12/2024 08:02

I love them all almost equally but think Raphael, Leo, Gabriel.

Drreamingthedaysaway · 31/12/2024 08:03

Gabriel, Raphael, Leo - I am not keen on Leo

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 31/12/2024 08:04

Gabriel, one of my favourite names
Leo is fine, but I prefer Leon
I don't really like Raphael

Me too!

Gabriel
Raphael
Leo

Leo is ok but I'm not overly keen. Really like the other two

Leo

But I would never use Gabe, don’t like that at all. The Gabriel I know is never shortened by family or friends but that’s harder to maintain in some groupings.

Gem359 · 31/12/2024 08:05

I don't think you could go wrong with any of them, all equally good.

Bigredcombine · 31/12/2024 08:08

All beautiful names. Classic and work well internationally.

Gabriel
Raphael
Leo

I've only ever met intelligent, successful and gorgeous Gabriels.

Berga · 31/12/2024 08:09

Gabriel
Raphael

Not Leo, it seems so popular.

Can't resist but you only need Michael and you've got the ninja turtles.

motherofdragons79 · 31/12/2024 08:37

Gabriel
Raphael
Leo

Really like the first, really dislike Leo.

  1. Raphael, although I prefer the Rafael spelling.
  2. Gabriel, but English speakers are likely to pronounce it GAY-bree-'uhl (and shorten it to Gabe).
  3. Leo. I don't dislike it, but it was very popular for a long time (and it makes me think of the Zodiac sign).
Sunnyflow · 31/12/2024 09:34

I wouldn't call these French. Raphael is Spanish.

I only like Leo, but it's become very popular so may start to date soon
