DH prefers Beatrix and I prefer Beatrice

Thoughts? Or any names similar if one of us can't compromise. Thanks!

Beatrix - it has more spark

FayCarew · 17/12/2024 21:16

Beatrice. the other one is Beer tricks.

eurochick · 17/12/2024 21:16

It depends on the surname. I prefer Beatrix but it didn't work well with our surname

Grinchinlaws · 17/12/2024 21:17

I like them both but I think I agree that Beatrix is more sparky and less royal
family!

Plus Beatrix Potter is a legend. And you can have Bea or Trixie for a nickname, whereas I think Beatrice is usually just Bea?

Luddite26 · 17/12/2024 21:19

I love anything Beatrix Potter but when I read it I said beer tricks to myself (I think it was a joke when I was growing up - if I ever did if I'm still saying it). I think personally I would go Beatrice unless you are tributing to the amazing powerhouse Miss Potter?

Grinchinlaws · 17/12/2024 21:40

Thats funny @Luddite26 - Im Irish so the beer tricks thing doesn’t work at all in my accent (because we pronounce the “r”’at the end of beer strongly, which isn’t there in Beatrix) - so this would never have crossed my mind!

MumChp · 17/12/2024 21:42

Beatrix - we had it on the list for our 3rd.

Polistock · 17/12/2024 21:44

Beatrix. Who wouldn't want a name with an x in.

I never understand the beer tricks thing, it's not like that's actually a phrase.

StamppotAndGravy · 17/12/2024 21:47

Depends how you want it pronounced. Beatrice can be pronounced Beatrix, Beatrys or Beatrycha. Beatrix has fewer variations and will just be Beeahtrix vs Bayahtrix

Flyylf · 17/12/2024 21:52

Beatrix

BnmLK · 17/12/2024 21:57

Beatrice is much much nicer

LuckyBea · 17/12/2024 21:58

Beatrice for me, definitely. Not a fan of Trixie as a possible nick name - reminds me of a small fluffy dog name (sorry, maybe I am being too direct there, but it was my honest thought process when I read your post!)

Beer tricks potter - maybe someone putting a pint of beer on a billiards table and potting the black or someone from Stoke slipping a vodka in a pint.

Beatrice works better internationally.

Moreteaandchocolate · 17/12/2024 22:00

I prefer Beatrice but both are nice

etonmessedup · 17/12/2024 22:02

Beatrix 100%, agree with who wouldn't want a name with an x in

SquigglePigs · 17/12/2024 22:04

Personally think Beatrix is much nicer than Beatrice.

BreezySheep · 17/12/2024 22:06

Another vote for Beatrice!

kidsanddogs10 · 17/12/2024 22:09

Definitely Beatrice.

Beatrix gives more edgy/alternative. Depends what vibe you are after!

Goodafternoonmillie · 17/12/2024 22:14

My daughter goes to nursery with a Beatrice and pronounces her name as “Bitches” - quite amusing. Took me a while to work out what she was meaning - ”I saw Bitches today” 🤣

I would vote Beatrix.

Daffyyellow · 18/12/2024 02:23

Beatrice, I prefer it as it’s softer. It was on my shortlist but I went with a different -ice name!

RichPetunia · 18/12/2024 02:28

Beatrix

CuriousGeorge80 · 18/12/2024 02:36

Beatrix all day long.

mathanxiety · 18/12/2024 02:46

Beatrix - I feel there's a lot more zip to it.

hiddenselkie · 18/12/2024 04:48

I prefer Beatrice

hobbledyhoy · 18/12/2024 08:05

Beatrix - has a bit more about it
