I love Saorlaith

genesis92 · 07/12/2024 20:03

Sorcha is the best...but I may be biased 🙂

Saoirse is preferable to Sorcha in my opinion. If you want to anglicise it, go for Sorsha.

Yuck, please don't do this. It's not pronounced sorsha.

"Sorsha"?!?! Absolutely not. That's not even close to the name.

From your list I like aisling, my favourite Irish girls name is keeva!

Rainbowandgrey · 07/12/2024 23:55

Keeva is spelt Caoimhe in Irish though.

I say this as a Scottish person - Unless you live in Ireland I would avoid any with a Celtic spelling to save them a lifetime of explaining/correcting.

My favorites are Maura and Kerry.

I love Kerry, dated now in the UK and Ireland but still lovely

Sanguinello · 08/12/2024 00:06

Cara is my favourite

Aisling is the prettiest IMO
I also like Caiomhe

How is that pronounced?

It's Caoimhe in Irish. Not Keeva.

And depending where you live in Ireland it isn't always pronounced keeva!
I went to school with two Caoimhe's.. One was keeva and the other qweeva ☺️

Yep. I’ve met a couple of qweevas over the years too!

It is NI. I personally hate it, but seems to be the default here.
