Mine is

Angelica!

It's one of my colleague's names, and I think it's very pretty.

DD is an Isla which is still my favourite ❤️

But I would’ve loved Evelyn, Aurora, Olivia, Sophia

SugarIsHardtoAvoid · 05/12/2024 23:11

Loads of great names on this thread. Manon and Shirin are both lovely.

Soscold · 05/12/2024 23:12

Also love Estelle. And Stella. A pp has mentioned Kelly, which is a cool name. I also like it for a boy.

if I’d had a girl she’d have been Elfie (n European heritage). I remember telling a 19yo work colleague (now a mum of 3 girls) and she said “ooh that’s a name Paula Yates would have given her kid”! It did give me pause. But I had a boy anyway.

At the moment it’s Claudia - timeless, elegant, international but strangely underused in the UK. Based on this baby name board people can’t seem to get past the “meaning”, although that doesn’t seem to matter for James, Emily etc and not that many people read Latin anymore.

Cecily (for girl) and Clarence (for boy)

Edited

Cecily was my grandmothers name and I’ve always adored it. I had boys but if I’d had a daughter I would have named her Cecily

TempsPerdu · 06/12/2024 09:55

Other than DD's name:

Nancy
Frida
Camille
Aster
Helena
Tabitha
Miranda

I tend to like names that are underused but not too 'out there', and feminine but strong rather than cutesy.

It’d be impossible for me to pick just one. I don’t even have a particular naming style that I like my taste varies massively. My list is about 100 miles long.

I know that this will be unpopular but my current favourite girls name is "Euphemia" - I've discovered it used a lot in my genealogy and it's really grown on me, along with the variant "Eupheme".
My DH is glad that I'm menopausal and unlikely to have another baby, especially as I said I really liked "Enoch" for a boy.

That was the name of one of my relatives, she used to say she would have been better with a number! She was only ever known as Effie. I kind of love it as I loved her, but didn’t inflict it on my daughters.

Because it could be seem as a bit long and pretentious, I guess.

Exactly - that's the feedback I get from everyone I mention it too along with "it'll be a nightmare for the child to learn how to spell their own name" - personally I think it's beautiful though.
