I’m interested in hearing how you picture the following names as adults (if that makes sense), for example the name Charles I would picture quite a well to do business man.

Sonny
Remy
Jonah
Thomas
Theodore
Milo
Miles
Joey
Ralphie

Sonny - works in the media
Remy - lawyer
Jonah - handy trade
Thomas - well, he’s now known as Tom and he’s literally anyone.
Theodore - now Theo and is a bit of a knob - city wanker type
Milo - artist
Miles - art dealer
Joey - runs a hipster cafe or shop
Ralphie - either a total knobber like Theo or has changed it to Ralph and is now a joiner.

😂😂

Sonny - TOWIE vibes
Remy - mummy’s boy
Jonah - working in a surf shack
Thomas - I have no opinion
Theodore - ditto
Milo - fun barman or reception teacher
Miles - bit arrogant but generally harmless
Joey - presumably would be Joe as an adult. Doing any job at all, a fine person.
Ralphie - presumably would be Ralph as an adult. Portly middle management.

DelphiniumBlue · 11/11/2024 10:39

Sonny - overindulged, feral as a child
Remy - something in the arts or media
Jonah - American, not dynamic
Thomas - bubbly
Theodore - probably Theo IRL, sensitive and artistic, maybe antiques dealer
Milo - similar to Theo
Miles - maybe a theatrical agent
Joey - Peter Pan, thinks he's cutely boyish
Ralphie - what, as his real name? Not Ralph or Rafe? both of which are quite retro but also cool and a bit macho

Margorett · 11/11/2024 10:40

Sonny - Mummy's boy
Remy - Artist
Jonah - Thief
Thomas - scruffy, overweight, with a constant sniffle
Theodore - Public school boy
Milo - loves animals
Miles - self opinionated twat
Joey - fun and adventurous
Ralphie - drug dealer

CollisionCourse · 11/11/2024 10:44

😆

Which is your favourite op? None of them are completely terrible and mostly they're good names. But to join in...

Sonny - bit dull but harmless
Remy - media job, but career stalled
Jonah - successful, nice shoes but a bit of a twat
Thomas - literally anyone doing anything and knows quite a few other blokes called Tom
Theodore - Remy's boss
Milo - cheeky brickie with a lovely wife
Miles - estate agent
Joey - lives at home, part time PT
Ralphie - influencer

smallsilvercloud · 11/11/2024 10:47

Sonny - Waiter
Remy- Barman
Jonah - Surfer, construction job on the side
Thomas Sales, office job
Theodore - Director, business owner
Milo - Forever in the tweeneys
Miles - Works for his dad and is a mummies boy
Joey - Estate agent
Ralphie - Biker, manual trade

potatocakesinprogress · 11/11/2024 10:57

Sonny - Jack Russell
Remy - Pug
Jonah - Vicar
Thomas - Average bloke
Theodore - Average bloke but more pretentious
Milo - Labradoodle or Pomeranian
Miles - Labradoodle or German Shepherd
Joey - Golden Retriever
Ralphie - Yorkshire Terrier

Hkuhg · 11/11/2024 11:00

DS is Joseph, nicknamed Joey while he's young. It's not a proper given name is it? Presumably it's Joe from teenage years and beyond?.

user2848502016 · 11/11/2024 11:21

Sonny - chav
Remy - chav
Jonah - hippy type, been to uni but now works in a vegan coffee shop
Thomas - average middle class white guy
Theodore - posh business type
Milo - middle class but with a more arty job
Miles - posh, banker or solicitor type
Joey - builder
Ralphie - if still called Ralphie as an adult, mummy's boy. If now calling himself Ralph then middle class professional

NotMyFirstUsername1 · 11/11/2024 11:33

Some of these responses have really made me giggle 😂 I particularly liked the detail about Thomas having a constant sniffle!

In response to which is my favourite, they’re all names that have come up at some point for us whilst trying to choose a name - no favourite but like them all! I always try to picture names on adults so was interested to see if others do the same. I have a particularly hard time seeing Ralphie on an adult.

myonlinelife86 · 11/11/2024 11:39

I have a milo who's 6, loving these responses!
I did worry alot about the older years and if his name would cause issues at jobs etc as it's a love/ hate one.
I desperately wanted my husband to agree to Emilio as a full name them milo for short so he had a full name 'back up official name ' but we ran with it in the end.

WitcheryDivine · 11/11/2024 11:41

Sonny - miserable tosser
Remy - teaching assistant, always going on about how he’s half French
Jonah - agree with PP he runs a vegan surf shack
Thomas - if not Tom he’s probably a bellringer or antique books collector
Theodore - golden retriever
Milo - went on a gap year, thinks he’s the only one who ever has
Miles - privately educated but somehow still never learnt to use a hankie when he’s got hay fever which is all summer
Joey - drummer and plumber
Ralphie - isn’t in prison but should be, wouldn’t let him look after your stick insects let alone your kids

WitcheryDivine · 11/11/2024 11:43

If you like Sonny how about Solly? He’s got a degree in psychology and now works in adult social care and is really great at his job and up for promotion

User122456 · 11/11/2024 11:44

I’m loving these by the way. Love the one that’s mostly breeds of dog. 🐶 And the back story of the PP above mine here.

Candymay · 11/11/2024 11:47

Sonny- on probation
Remy- works in a restaurant. I’m getting Benihana
Jonah- good at sports but in trouble at school. Not top sets if you catch my drift
Thomas- Tommy works on building sites. Started as a labourer but is now training to be an electrician
Theodore- he’s very loved by mum. Almost stifled
Milo- lovely man. Works at Starbucks saving for theatre school. Sometimes gets work as an extra on tv
Miles- lawyer
Joey- he’s on a gap year in Australia at the moment
Ralphie- he’s an estate agent

showersandflowers · 11/11/2024 11:49

Sonny - I knew a sonny at uni and he was really smart and popular so I have good associations with this name
Remy - artsy
Jonah - either American or religious. Maybe both.
Thomas - posh parents.
Theodore - I think this name is quite common atm so I would just think it's a common name.
Milo - bit of a loser. Peaked in secondary school where he was the class clown.
Miles - can hold his own. Decent lad.
Joey - Probably a fun guy but not very serious.
Ralphie - that kid from the simpsons.

canyouletthedogoutplease · 11/11/2024 12:01

Sonny is in a band and deals a bit of coke
Remy is doing a five stretch
Jonah has a favourite cardigan and it's beige
Thomas couldn't be more middle of the road in every aspect
Theodore likes rugby and is an estate agent in a slim fit pink shirt
Milo has never worked in an office, and likes leather jackets and man jewelry
Miles is a company man, bland blonde wife, plays golf, drives an Audi, there's loads of acquaintances but no proper friends
Joey is loads of fun, very lovable but completely unreliable and totally unfaithful
Ralphie has a really niche sexual kink and hasn't cut the apron strings to his mother

CookieMonster28 · 11/11/2024 12:08

We have similar taste! If I have a boy (due Feb) DH and I have chosen a similar sounding name to Sonny ...

The only name I don't like on list is Thomas as I find it a bit safe and boring in comparison with your other names!

BananaSpanner · 11/11/2024 12:09

I know a child Sonny from my DC school. He’s lovely, friendly and sporty.

LarkspurLane · 11/11/2024 12:17

Sonny - has changed his name by deed poll and doesn't go home much
Remy - now called his full name Remington and runs a successful legal firm

Thomas - he's doing fine
Theodore - doing better than Thomas
Milo - drunk
Miles - works for Remy
Joey - has finally moved out and is known as Joe

Fourecks · 11/11/2024 12:22
