PennyLane335 · 21/10/2024 19:09

I am expecting baby number 3 early next year and we are not finding out the gender so I need suggestions of boys and girls names.

Baby number 3 will be sibling to Sloane (girl) and Miller (boy).

Names we like (but are set on) so you can get our vibe-

Boys

  • Archer
  • Henley
  • Cash
  • Lennox

Girls

  • Elara
  • Delaney
  • Lennie
  • Gia

I like Archer and Delaney from your list OP

I like all the names on your list except for Cash. Your existing children's names and your shortlist are quite American sounding, I agree. But that style is becoming more and more popular in the UK too. I really like the surnamey style.

I currently teach or have recently taught (in the UK - home counties, 'posh' school) children called:

Aston, Asher, Ayrton, Bailey, Chase, Corran, Enzo, Harrison, Harvey, Hendrix, Hunter, Jasper, Jayden, Jensen, Jude, Lorcan, London, Payce, Quinn, Reed, Rio, Roca, Sandy, Spencer, Sultan, Tate, Tanner, Wilkie, Woody, Zen

Alexa, Atlanta, Aven, Darcey, Dakota, Everly, Riley, Savannah, Sydney

Many of those families are Irish, Scottish or American so I think that surnamey style is probably still more popular in those places but not all are. The girls still seem to be more traditionally named than boys.

Other ideas that I have (mostly) got from American books and TV:

Brandon, Brodie, Cole, Corey, Jordan, Mason, Parker, Porter, Preston

Addison, Ashley, Avery, Aubrey, Blair, Brynn, Cassidy, Fallon, Hadley, Harper, Kendall, Sutton, Payson, Peyton, Piper, Madison, Mackenzie, Morgan, Paige, Brooke, Reagan

Or some other 'softer', 'girlier' options that I think go well with Sutton and Miller:
Amberley, Aria, Aphra, Astrid, Autumn, Alannah, Bronte, Bryony, Bethany, Claire, Cassia, Celeste, Carmen, Carina, Carlotta, Delphi, Darina, Dana, Erin, Eden, Evadne, Ebony, Evelyn, Francesca, Faye, Fenella, Giselle, Giana, Georgia, Halle, Hayley, Honor, India, Iona, Jessamy, Juniper, Kiki, Kirsten, Katrina, Lorelai, Leonie, Leona, Liara, Lena, Meredith, Nicole, Nyah, Nia, Nova, Ondine, Poppy, Posy, Romy, Romilly, Rowena, Rosina, Robyn, Sadie, Sabrina, Serena, Summer, Scarlett, Sienna, Skye, Tiana, Tansy, Tamara, Tamsin, Tanya, Vivianne, Willow

And a few more British (often Celtic) sounding boys names you might like:
Aiden, Aaron, Connor, Callum, Ellis, Elliot, Ethan, Ewan, Fraser, Gabriel, Jamie, Jonty, Joshua, Jake, Kieran, Lucas, Leo, Milo, Micah, Nico, Owen, Patrick, Reuben, Rory, Raphael, Sonny, Victor, Vinnie, Zach

"No hun, there's a difference between honesty and meanness. You've crossed that line, and the "brutal honesty" you're clapping yourself on the back for is just a bad case of rudeness."

I'm not being mean or rude, nor am I clapping myself on the back Hmm

Hun

Your posts are both mean and rude, and also xenophobic and smug. Insisting - and doubling down - that people will laugh behind the OP's back at names she chooses for her babies is nasty.

I’m not sure where this flood of defensiveness on behalf of the OP is coming from. I’m not ‘fondly imagining’ anything. I don’t have to. Quite a few posters think the names the OP favours are ridiculous for various reasons, and given that Mn is just a bunch of people released from the obligation to be tactful, it’s an indicator that some people encountering the OP and her children in RL are likely to feel similarly. What the OP does with that information is up to her.

Since when did MN not have a code of conduct? Anonymity on this forum isn't an open invitation to be rude or crude or mean, or to openly mock, or jeer at other people.

The rudeness and meanness here are an indicator only that there are some spectacularly rude people posting on this thread.

Insisting that there are others in real life who feel the same but are too polite to say what they really feel is an insidious form of bullying.

Instead of Lennox, I would suggest Lennon or Liam. I also would sugges Tate, could be for a girl or boy :)

I take it you're American OP.

She has stated she's from the north of England.

Soha for a girl and Jude or Gene (Eugene) for a boy.

Oceangreyscale · 06/12/2024 07:21

I like Delaney, also Cassidy and Sage for a girl. Particularly Sage.
