Basically live on this thread. Baby boy due soon, from NI.
narrowed it down to Callan (I love this & it’s so different) and Aidan which I also like.

what do you prefer??

I've never heard of Callan, but it's absolutely lovely.
I do like Aidan, too, but I'd definitely go for Callan.

Callan is lovely, not a name I’ve heard before but much prefer it to Aiden which in my head sounds a bit whiny. Callan sounds like a strong name.

Never heard of Callan. I like both your names, but think he'd be called/get get the name spelt Callum by mistake.

Two of my friends have boys named Callan (different friendship groups, they don't know each other at all) Beautiful name. Aidan is nice but I prefer Callan myself. Though he will spend a lot of time having to say, "no not Callum" but since it's getting more popular that probably won't be a big deal. Congratulations on your little boy 💙

And in one fell swoop any mother who has a kid named Aidan thanks you for your careless comment. Both are great names. It’s a personal choice and not how other people feel about a name.

I’d never heard of the name Callan till I saw it mentioned here a couple of weeks ago - it’s lovely.

I feel like lots of middle names would go well with it too.
Callan Patrick is nice. I like Callan Angus too.

Callan is a gorgeous name. Aidan is nice too, but you definitely hear it more often. I personally would go with Callan out of the two. ☺️

Callan is an ace name! Agree there might be a bit of not-Callum on occasion but that’s easily corrected. Bit like my Irish friend Colm being called Colin.

Glad you've made your decision @Babyboyno2 that's great! Just wanted to add that I too love the name Callan.
I knew two boys about 20 or so years ago named Callan.
They got called Cal, of course, which is a good name too; short and strong.
All the very best to you, oh and I also like Aiden, but it's more common now while Callan isn't as much, so I think you've picked a good name!

I've noticed Caelan which is similar to Callan has taken a massive jump in popularity here in Scotland the past few years, could see Callan going the same way.
