Morgan for a girl? Is it dated for a baby in 2024?

I would appreciate your opinions. I like the name for a girl but I'm aware unisex names aren't everyone's cup of tea. Thoughts?

In Wales it’s a more modern version of Morgen, which means ‘from the sea’ (the ‘mot’ in my username means sea), I think it’s timeless as opposed to dated.

Skybluepinky · 07/10/2024 18:15

I know lots of female Morgan’s who are 19-21.

saraclara · 07/10/2024 18:17

The only Morgan in my life was called by most people (other than their parents) as Morgy (hard G) which is the ugliest sounding name I've come across. So I'd avoid it for that reason alone.

It’s nice enough. Morgan Le Fay makes it obvious the names not just for boys - it’s only not a fave of mine as I much prefer similar Morwenna as it has a less harsh sound. As far as timeless - Morgan’s a touch 2000’s but it’s not too badly dated imo.

I think Morgan is a great name for a girl!

(Though I come from a small country where Morgan is strictly a boy name).

Moreteaandchocolate · 07/10/2024 18:37

I only know one Morgan and he’s a boy. For a girl it has American 90’s vibes to me! Nice enough though 😊

I don't really like it for a girl sorry.

DreamingInPhosphorescence · 07/10/2024 18:58

I know one, male and primary school age. I like the name a lot.

abracadabra1980 · 07/10/2024 19:58

Not keen on it. Why a surname for a little girls first name?

Has a lot to learn about naming conventions through the ages…

It’s a bit 90s/2000s to me and I’m personally not a fan of the harder sounding surname type names that you often get in America, but if you like it go for it, I don’t think it’s one that will illicit really strong feelings!

FayCarew · 07/10/2024 20:43

I don't like it, it's a surname.

girljulian · 07/10/2024 20:44

I love it, actually never known one of either sex.

sadeightiesthrowback · 07/10/2024 20:46

I'm sorry I'm not a fan of the name Morgan for a girl.
I didn't like it the first time around as a baby girl's name.

And the thought that she might very likely get the name Morgy, for short, doesn't help to make it any more appealing.

Willyoushutthefrontdoor · 07/10/2024 20:51

Daughter had 2 Morgan friends at school. She's 21 now. But that's it. Haven't heard it since tbh

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 07/10/2024 21:01

I like it. Think it os more timeless than dated too.

Clockoff · 07/10/2024 21:34

My nephew is called Morgan
we are in wales
i love it for a girl

BlackToes · 08/10/2024 04:01

I like it. I also like Megan

Itstime1 · 08/10/2024 05:58

I love it. Bias as it’s my DD name and she’s 2.

its more American style girls name. We chose it as it was unisex and the only one we truly liked for her! All of our girls names were unisex names. I preferred it.

shoopshoopdedoo · 08/10/2024 06:00

Not keen, personally. I’d think she was in her 20s.

Atishooo · 08/10/2024 08:51

Not keen on it at all, it’s a bit trashy. To me anyway. And very dated.

Duckies · 08/10/2024 11:05

I like Morgen (le fay), quite romantic

Whatsitreallylike · 08/10/2024 11:49

I’d say 90s/2000s

dontforgetme · 08/10/2024 12:02

I absolutely love it.

Conqueeftador · 08/10/2024 12:05

I like it. Makes me think of tales of King Arthur.
