Name dilema!

Hi all
Having another boy very soon and need to decide on a name.
Opinions welcome as I'd rather it from strangers, than friends or family. I'd also like to keep it as a surprise.

Ideas:
Josh
Freddie
Alfie

Already have a son called Jack, so whatever we choose needs to go with that!

Thank you!

Alfie or Freddie because I’d avoid children having the same initial.

Thank you. Any other suggestions that are not above?

Jack is much nicer than any of those!

Jack and Rory
Jack and Ben
Jack and Leo
Jack and Theo
Jack and Osian
Jack and Otis

JosieB68 · 26/09/2024 20:47

I like the same initial I think Jack and Josh sound lovely together.
I also like
Lewis
Blair
Theo
And if you did like the same initial also like Joseph (Joe) and Jamie.

IggyAce · 26/09/2024 20:49

Definitely not Josh.
Suggestions: Toby, Alex, Matthew, Thomas.

I'd avoid -ie endings unless they are diminutives for a full name; Alfred, Edward etc.. The gift of choice is wonderful

Button28384738 · 26/09/2024 20:53

I like them all but Jack and Josh are a bit similar.
Alfie is nice for a child but a bit cutesy for an adult, and I'm not keen on Alfred.
So I would choose Freddie out of the three
Jack and Freddie sounds nice too

mnahmnah · 26/09/2024 20:56

Albie
Toby
Arthur
Noah
Oscar

YorkshireSunshine · 26/09/2024 20:57

I know a Jack, Samuel (Sam) & Joseph (Joe) sibling set 😊

Gamergirl86 · 26/09/2024 21:16

They're all lovely! Personally I love sibling with the same letter;

James
Jonty
Jimmy

OopsieeDaisy · 26/09/2024 21:45

I would personally avoid alliterative names. How about
Jack and Oliver
Jack and Harry

HiCandles · 26/09/2024 21:49

Out of those options Freddie/Frederick is nicest.
Alfie is so incredibly overused, and most people don't seem to like Alfred.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 26/09/2024 22:19

If you are interested in other ideas then I think Max goes great with Jack - similar style diminutive name that’s become more popular/better known than the originals.

But of your picks, then I guess Freddie. I’m not keen on the “ie” ending diminutives as I find them a bit cute but Freddie is like Charlie and Harry in that you at least meet a fair few adults with the name. Alfie is very trendy and Josh and Jack a bit samey (plus it’s rare you meet a Josh who isn’t Joshua so people might assume).

Moreteaandchocolate · 26/09/2024 22:25

Jack and Freddie goes best imo

Mumofgirls2017 · 26/09/2024 22:31

If you want other ideas…. Jack and

oliver
harry
finn
alfie
archie
george
samuel
benjamin
lucas
thomas
leo
charlie
theo

llamali · 26/09/2024 22:33

I would go for Alfred

This gives you options. Al, Alfie, Freddie

Personally Freddie was VERY overdone a few years ago in my area and now whenever there's a Freddie people say oh another one!

NewName24 · 26/09/2024 22:37

I like Josh the best, but, like other pps would avoid having two with same initial.

Alfie and Freddie have both been REALLY popular over last few years. Having named my dc1 something that turned out to be very, very popular in his age group (years before there were ways of checking popularity of names), I wouldn't do it again if I could avoid it.

Similar names to Jack
Ben
Tom
Nathan
Nick
Alex
Sam
Harry
Luke

Firsttimebabymummy · 26/09/2024 22:52

Harry, Luke and Josh first came to mind. Having the same initial is personal preference. I don't mind it and think Josb and Jack is great together.

We love the name Harry but it doesn't go with our surname! It sounds like a famous well known film/book character...! 🤣

Henry, Anthony, Nicholas

AnxiousD · 27/09/2024 09:04

My husband is very keen on Josh. I'm not sure, does it look like we've shortened it from Joshua??

Oh I love Alfie ! I only have one name for a boy but I had a little girl still keeping the name though in case next one is a boy it's Jack I think it's such a lovely little name for a little boy 💙

This is why I'm finding it hard. We only had 1 boy name previous and obviously used that 🤣
Got used to having a name that can't be shortened too, which is making it a bit more tricky to choose something.
