As the title says would really appreciate no one being too savage. I am asking for opinions but be gentle with me.
36 weeks pregnant with my third baby , first boy. With my girls I just knew their names nothing and no one could of swayed me but this time I'm struggling
There's one I LOVE but it is quite unique so that's what holds me back but then I think I look on this thread daily currently and in 20 years time when he's an adult his name is not going to stick out.
Surname one syllable Irish name.
Rocky
Sydney ( definitely spelt this way)
Phoenix
Harrison ( would like this as middle name to Rocky)
Sonny ( becoming really popular near me )

Thanks in advance

Rocky - no
Sydney - ok
Phoenix - no
Harrison - yes
Sonny - ok

FionnulaTheCooler · 24/09/2024 19:48

I quite like Sydney. Sonny is very popular where I am. Not sure about Rocky, what about Rocco instead?

Nicebloomers · 24/09/2024 19:49

Rocco or Sidney for me. Sidney is particularly nice, but spelled Sydney everyone will assume female.

StressedQueen · 24/09/2024 19:49

I like Harrison. Not a fan of Rocky, Phoenix or Sonny. Sydney has always seemed like a girl's name to me but I don't know why.

What is the name that you absolutely love??

Oh and also I agree that Rocco might be a better alternative to Rocky

Bobbybobbins · 24/09/2024 19:50

Harrison is good- not convinced by the others.

TheBeesKnee · 24/09/2024 19:52

I like Sydney the most from your list.

What about Ashley?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 24/09/2024 19:52

Harrison is the only one of those I'd give to a human baby.

MamOfGirls2 · 24/09/2024 19:52

I like Harrison. I'm not a fan of Rocky. I don't have Rocco. I heard people likening Rocky to Raven.

Harrison Raven surname

LostFaithinPolice · 24/09/2024 19:55

I really don’t like Rocky or Harrison at all.
Sydney (spelt particularly that way) feels more female than Sidney. I do love Sidney though

Phoenix is ok, Sonny is really popular (as is Harrison) so I wouldn’t use those.

Hands down Sidney is the best in my opinion.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 24/09/2024 19:52

Harrison is the only one of those I'd give to a human baby.

This

ThinkingUpsideDown · 24/09/2024 20:01

Do you know what? I like all of them. I've always preferred more traditional names (my 6-month-old DD is Jessica). But since meeting so many babies at baby groups, some with very unusual names, I've become more open-minded.. I've not yet met a baby that didn't suit its name. Pick the name you love. None of the names on your list are outrageous, I could picture a baby boy with any of those names.

UltramarineViolet · 24/09/2024 20:02

I don't love any of them but they aren't completely 'out there' and in 20 years time there will be lots of adults with similar types of names so they won't stand out in a negative way

I do agree with comments above about your spelling of Sydney though

sel2223 · 24/09/2024 20:05

Sydney seems very feminine to me, I wouldn't personally use that name for my son.

Phoenix, too 'try hard'

Rocky Harrison or Sonny Harrison I think both work. Maybe not my style but nothing wrong with either name. Go for it!

Idontevenknowmyname · 24/09/2024 20:08

I like Sidney but not the female way for a boy. He will become Sid anyway I guess.
Harrison will become Harry. Fine but very popular.
Phoenix is cool.
Rocky, that’s an animal name to me, but Rocco is awesome!
Sonny just reminds me of my brother getting a telling off when we were kids. ‘Oi sonny jim, what do you think you’re up to?’ Like that.

But yeah, nothing deeply wrong with any of them. Not sure I would saddle a boy with Sydney as that spelling though.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 24/09/2024 19:52

Harrison is the only one of those I'd give to a human baby.

yep, same.

Moveoverdarlin · 24/09/2024 20:17

Harrison is the only one I’d consider.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 24/09/2024 20:19

Harrison and Sidney (I would associate Sydney as a girl's name as a PO said) are ok. Prefer Harry and Sid. Rocky and Sonny not my taste but not awful.

CarmelaBrunella · 24/09/2024 20:26

Not Rocky for a human child.
Sonny is very popular, but I don't know why, it's what you call a boy when you can't remember his name. "Oi, Sonny!". Give him a proper name, not a synonym for a boy.
Sidney or Harrison are fine.

PreggersWithBaby2 · 24/09/2024 20:29

Rocky - I don't dislike it
Sydney - not a fan
Phoenix - not a fan
Harrison - love this and love Rocky as a middle name for it
Sonny - hate, sorry! And for some reason it is getting popular lately!

Newsenmum · 24/09/2024 20:29

Choose Rocky Harrison. It’s completely fine and it’s what you want.

Firsttimebabymummy · 24/09/2024 20:36

Rocky - no
Sydney - I know a Sydney so this seems fine to me.
Phoenix - no
Harrison - this would by choice
Sonny - no

I'd go with Harrison 100%

BootballJoy · 24/09/2024 20:42

Rocky - I like it
Sydney - the spelling seems feminine to me - as Sidney it's fine
Phoenix - yes
Harrison - not a fan, very surnamey.
Sonny - ok

I'd go for Rocky or Phoenix.

SkaneTos · 24/09/2024 20:43

I think they are all good names!
From your list I like Rocky, Phoenix and Sonny the most.

The one name that you LOVE, is it one of the names from the list?
Choose the name that you love.
