Albert Robert

Love the name Albert for a first name (mainly because this is the only name me and the Husband can agree on!) and Robert will always be the middle name. But does Albert Robert sound too similar?

I dont think so, and often they are not called by their first and middle names, besides that I think it sounds lovely :)

BrightHarvestMoon · 21/09/2024 09:38

Albert Robert sounds odd sorry @LW678 The 2 'berts' on the end sound weird.

ButterAsADip · 21/09/2024 09:38

If Roberts was the surname it would be of the same ilk as Bill Williams, David Davies etc but barely anyone will know his middle name really - will come up in admin situations but other than that not really past primary school. If Robert is special for you then that probably trumps the opinions of others.

CooksDryMeasure · 21/09/2024 09:41

It sounds okay to me. But it doesn’t matter, people so rarely use the middle names. If it has meaning, go for it.

DrunkTinkerbell40s · 21/09/2024 09:41

I think it sounds fine, like others have said middle names are hardly used and often have a sentimental value. I think Albert is a GORGEOUS name for a baby boy :)

TallTreesPinkTrees · 21/09/2024 09:51

It's cute - Bertie Bob!

Firsttimebabymummy · 21/09/2024 10:07

I think it's fine.
Albert is especially lovely

Charlotte120221 · 21/09/2024 10:07

Can you put something in the middle- so Albert James Robert or similar?

I do think they’re too similar otherwise….

MinPinSins · 21/09/2024 10:26

I think it sounds odd, and a bit redundant. They're only two letters different.

Could Albin work at all?

Babbahabba · 21/09/2024 10:27

Nn Bertie is much nicer than Albert.

Henriette9 · 21/09/2024 10:33

Sorry OP but I wouldn’t choose them together either as they both have the nickname Bert so are obviously very similar - although they are both lovely, particularly Albert.

I’d pick one and save the other for another son potentially.

But having said that, we chose questionable middle names (our parents’ names which aren’t the nicest) but we wanted to honour family members. So we clearly don’t care that much about middle names. However, we did avoid a first name beginning with the same letter as one of our parents’ names to avoid the alliteration.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 21/09/2024 10:37

Ithink they are a bit too similar - the two "bert" endings sound a bit odd, sorry.

BUT, but but but, could you add another middle name? Albert Peter Robert Surname (for example) sounds great, I'd do that.

LW678 · 21/09/2024 10:39

That’s all for your suggestions. It’s so hard as we dont want to confide in family and friends as we’d be giving the name away. Love the idea of adding another middle name though to break it up!

I agree - Albert Robert sounds a little silly

Nicebloomers · 21/09/2024 11:25

Also think the 2 ‘Bert’ is not great. Absolutely love Albert. Can’t you save Robert/ Roberta for the next child (if you are having more). If you are using Robert as it’s a family name could the ‘Bert’ part not be a nod in that direction anyway? Also previous posters suggestion of adding in another middle name to break it up improves the flow considerably.

Deipara · 21/09/2024 11:26

It doesn't go well together it's the two Bert parts

AderynBach · 21/09/2024 11:26

I think it's lovely.

KirstenBlest · 21/09/2024 12:05

It doesn't flow all that well but he'll be Albert or Albie Surname most of the time.
Is Albin a name? It's awful.

Albert Robin flows better, but I wouldn't comment on Albert Roberts, so I don't think it's an issue. FWIW, I much prefer Robert to Albert.

Don't add another name.

Twindu · 21/09/2024 12:07

They don’t roll off the tongue easily but first and second names are rarely used together in reality

Moreteaandchocolate · 21/09/2024 12:17

I love both Albert and Robert but I think I’d shy away from using them together because they both end in Bert. I like the suggestions of Albert Robin or Albert James Robert.

AmeliaEarache · 21/09/2024 12:20

Yeah, too many Erts.

Monkeysatonthewall · 21/09/2024 13:53

I'd say don't give up on a name you like because it doesn't flow smoothly with the middle name which will never be used anyways.
If you like Albert Robert - go for it!

HoppyZippy · 21/09/2024 13:57

Nobody ever uses middle names along with their first name so it really really doesn't matter. Many New parents seem to think the names need to flow and that also need to match their siblings names but it's pointless.

Having said that, I think Albert Robert is great though. If I was his Auntie I mig
Ht be tempted to call him Bertie Bob though 😅

KirstenBlest · 21/09/2024 16:22

James is so boring as a middle name. Love it as a first name but it's the Rose/May/Grace middle name for boys.

sel2223 · 24/09/2024 14:19

Sorry OP, I just see/hear Bert Bert

Far too similar to use together so you either need a different first name or a different middle name
