Anna or Sadie

Apologies for yet another post, I'm due in two days and baby names are all I can think of right now. The replies iv had so far have been really helpful so thank you.

I already have a son called James
Our surname is Green, the Anne of green gables thing doesn't bother me, I'd never heard of it until a few days ago, and I believe it's not a bad association anyhow.

I love the fact Sadie is a little different, not too popular plus easy to pronounce and spell.

I love how equally classic Anna is to James, I'm yet to meet a little Anna but know many adults Anna's which makes me wonder if Anna and James are a little boring to together, however again I like the fact it's easy to pronounce and spell.

What are your thoughts?

Both gorgeous neither too out there!

Anna. Sadie always reminds me of the Clydesdale mare that used to draw the greengrocer's wagon when I was a child.

Marketplacevirgin · 27/08/2024 17:44

I love Sadie (Anna also nice!)

scotstarstrikestwo · 27/08/2024 18:24

I'm surprised with the Sadie bring unusual comments. I know at least 5 Sadies under the age of 6

RuthW · 27/08/2024 19:09

Both nice. I prefer Sadie.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/08/2024 00:08

Anna is an international classic and works perfectly with James. Sadie is quite trendy and I’d expect her brother to have a similar nickname style name - Albie, Teddy, Reggie, Lenny etc

I can only go by what name I’d rather be called - and I’d rather be an Anna than a Sadie.

Grimgrump · 28/08/2024 00:42

Sadie. Though I also think Zadie would sound good with your surname!

Liv999 · 28/08/2024 15:27

Sadie, Anna is so dull and boring, plus I know of one who is anything but classy or elegant!

oakleaffy · 28/08/2024 15:33

Sadie is a very heavy name.

Sexy Sadie is an old Beatles song.

Anna is lighter sounding.

middleagedandinarage · 28/08/2024 15:33

I love both! You can't go wrong with either, almost to the point you could pull it out a hat haha! Both nice with your surname and go well with James. I think Anna maybe has the very slight edge for me.
I just hate people asking names though because you always associate a name with someone you know. I have an amazing family member called Anna who I've spent most of my life looking up too, very trendy, clever, seems to excel at everything and know a lovely, kind, gently old lady called Sadie.

Well they are very different vibes aren't they, so go with the name that has more of the vibe you're trying to project.

Anna is a beautiful, traditional, timeless classic.

Sadie is a fun, 'modern' diminutive of Sarah.

Both lovely names 💓💓

I immediately thought of the fact that Sadie is a nickname for Sarah originally, and your other child has the formal form of his name - his given name being James not Jamie...

It sort of feels as though you've given the male child a serious name and the female child a "sweet" nickname as a given name and treated them differently if your children's official birth certificate names are James and Sadie.

That may be overthinking though 😜

mrssunshinexxx · 28/08/2024 21:02

Sadie 1000% I love it

brainpain · 31/08/2024 01:16

Anna - classic, timeless

SummerSplashing · 31/08/2024 01:37

Anns

sadie will always be 'the cleaning lsdy'

Anna goes much better with zkamrs

and Sadie Green sounds too much like Shady Green.

Grabyourpassportandmyhand · 31/08/2024 01:39

They are so different. Anna is classic and timeless. Sadie isn't......

I'd choose Anna.

But if you aren't sure about it have you considered Sarah?
Its so much nicer than Sadie.

aibutohavethisusername · 31/08/2024 01:40
