Here are the contenders.

  • Abraham
  • Elijah
  • Josiah
  • Michael
  • Moses
  • Nicodemus
  • Rufus
  • Seth
  • Zachariah
  • Eli
  • Micah

It has to be a bible name.

What do you think?

Michael

moreJellothanJlo · 16/04/2008 21:52

(the rest are a bit weird to me)

stripeymama · 16/04/2008 21:53

Seth.

WinkyWinkola · 16/04/2008 21:54

All great names. But Micah and Seth and Nicodemus are a wee bit off the wall.

I like Elijah or Rufus best. Strong names.

controlfreakyagain · 16/04/2008 21:55

is rufus a bible name? [ignorant heathen emoticon]

BrownSuga · 16/04/2008 21:57

Love Elijah (my DS' name, we shorten to Eli)

Micah is good too, know an adult Micah he got teased as a kid but does like his name now and wishes he had been more adventurous with his kids names.

collision · 16/04/2008 21:57

I love Rufus and Nico (not Nicodemus) and Micah is pretty cool.

Why does it have to be a Bible name?

Beeper · 16/04/2008 21:57

I love Rufus but DH says its a dogs name.

I can see how they would sound weird. We all have Jewish names.

How about Isak? Or David? Or Daniel?

thegrowlygus · 16/04/2008 21:58

Like Josiah. Makes me think of the West Wing.

And Rufus.

youngbutnotdumb · 16/04/2008 21:58

I think Elijah and Seth are pretty cool names for a kid! I was thinkin Elijah for my wee boy but DP didn't like it. Eli isn't bad. Zachariah is alright if you shoten it to Zack. Because tey are bible ames they re quite old fashioned can you picture yourself shoutig o Nicodemus although would be nice as Nico. Why don't you havea ible name on birth certificate but modernie it as metioned Zack and Nico. Sorry am not much help . My vote is for a modern Nico or Seth.

Well...if you want to have a Bible name...my favourite is NOAH!!!!!!!! I was not allowed to use it, but I have loved this name for as long as I have thought about having Babies....

  • Abraham-sorry...a no from me
  • Elijah- kinda like it, tis o.k.
  • Josiah- do like this one
  • Michael- not common anymore, but was once upon a time...it's an o.k. name
  • Moses- NO!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Nicodemus- will you call the child Nico? then it would be o.k.
  • Rufus-not that keen
  • Seth- do really like
  • Zachariah- do really like, too
  • Eli-no...might become Elli, making it sound like a girls name
  • Mica- do like...
3andnomore · 16/04/2008 22:01

My friend has an Ezra. Most of the people I know have Isaacs and joels and jacobs.

The problem is that we are very committed christians and the actual bearer of the name in the bible has some bearing on the matter.

beeper I like all of them, but especially

Josiah
Rufus
Seth

3andnomore · 16/04/2008 22:09

Beeper...what would be the favourite thing you would want your son to be....as in...all names have a meaning....

what would the name be????

BrownSuga · 16/04/2008 22:12

I wouldn't go with Eli then, if you are looking at the bearer of original name, his 2 sons were scalliwags (can't remember the story exactly), he was held accountable for their actions.
