  • Freya
  • Enid
  • Delilah
  • Esme
  • Faye
  • Millie/Milly
  • Enola
  • Riley

Opinions on these or suggestions of other welcome!

Riley

PurpleBrocadePeacock · 14/08/2024 15:52

I like Freya and Esme from your list.

loropianalover · 14/08/2024 15:53

I’d go with Faye, Esme, or possibly Millie.

Moveoverdarlin · 14/08/2024 15:53

From your list I only like Freya.

I like Freya, Enid (love the meaning), Delilah, Milly, and maybe I like Esme. My favorites are Enid and Milly.

Everyoneesleistheproblem · 14/08/2024 16:07

Fay (with an E if you must) is quite cool. I've know one or two over the years and it's got all the advantages of a well known short name whist not being too popular or stuck in any particular decade.

I like Riley although the make version is trending now, so might date her in later years.

Beth216 · 14/08/2024 16:15

Freya and Faye are by far my favourites.

To me Enid and Enola have a really hard sound, Riley sounds like a boy, Delilah sounds like a stripper, Milly is a nickname and Esme I never know how to pronounce.

Italia89 · 14/08/2024 16:32

Riley or Esme; both so pretty and a little less "usual".

MissyB1 · 14/08/2024 16:35

Faye, Millie, Riley - in that order.

Katherineryan1986 · 14/08/2024 16:38

Freya
Esme
Faye / Fay
Millie
Are the only ones I like from your list, but I am old so some of the older names like Enid and Delilah don't sit right with me now.

I wouldn't choose Riley as that is my sister's dog's name 🐶

Enola makes me think of a song called Enola Gay by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Enola Gay was a bomber aircraft, the first to drop an atomic bomb - I don't think I would want my daughter associated with that.

FionnulaTheCooler · 14/08/2024 16:43

Riley is overused IMHO, my DD has 5 in her school year, both male and female.

dbeuowlxb173939 · 14/08/2024 16:48

I LOVE Enid! Also Faye is nice.
I don't like Riley for a girl.
The others are nice just a bit more popular

Snoopystick · 14/08/2024 16:48

Enid or Faye. Milly/Millie is pretty popular though still lovely. Not keen on Riley or Esme.

MagicianMoth · 14/08/2024 16:50
  • Freya - it's nice, a good name, I just find it much of a muchness with all the Maya, Mia, Eva, Isla etcs
  • Enid - not really a fan, I like Edith though. I think the fact it ends in D
  • Delilah - I would say no because of the song
  • Esme - Like it very much
  • Faye - Really like it as well,
  • Millie/Milly - See Freya, I think I just know too many of them
  • Enola - Absolutely not given the bomb association
  • Riley - Not my style in that I wouldn't name one of my children it, but I like it on others!

I think I like Faye best, followed by Esme.

Lovelynames123 · 14/08/2024 16:52

Only like Faye, the rest are not to my taste at all I'm afraid

DinnaeFashYersel · 14/08/2024 16:59

I love Enid and Faye on your list.

HoHoHoliday · 14/08/2024 17:02

Freya - I love this name, it's classic, pretty, and the name of a Norse goddess, an all-round great choice.

Enid - I do like this name but I'm not sure it would ever be my first choice. If I met a baby Enid I would think it's a lovely choice though.

Delilah - personally not my choice, too frilly.

Esme - I always loved this name when it was unusual and not often heard of. Now it seems to be everywhere and it puts me off.

Faye - I really love this, it's another classic, pretty name and I also love the meaning.

Millie/Milly - I don't like it, no reason.

Enola - As a name it's nice, but for me it's hugely tainted by association as it was the name of the plane that dropped the Hiroshima bomb!

Riley - The only Rileys I know are dogs and cats so that how I think of it!

Based purely on a very small and biased sample of classes I've taught I'd go:

Faye- not over used, never come across a naughty one (jinxing it I'm sure!) And it sounds pretty without being sickly

Freya- its got a lovely meaning, seems to be more common lately but I've only ever met lovely Freya's

Esme/Enola- as above but on the rise more.

I would avoid Delilah just because of the song. As someone whose name is in a song it is so fun hearing your name sang to you weekly...

Life2Short4Nonsense · 14/08/2024 17:43

I would steer clear of names like Enola, Riley and Enid, because they are popular fictional characters right now and there might be a lot of them with the same name in her age group once she starts school..

Esme and Faye and my favorites from that list.

diddl · 14/08/2024 17:48

Freya
Esme
Edith?

Firsttimebabymummy · 14/08/2024 17:53

Moveoverdarlin · 14/08/2024 15:53

From your list I only like Freya.

Me too. Lovely name

shoopshoopdedoo · 14/08/2024 18:08

Love Freya, followed by Faye and Enid.
Like all the others apart from Enola (makes me think of Ebola) and Riley, which I’ve never heard for a girl.

Nicebloomers · 14/08/2024 18:08

Enid
