Give it to me straight .... What are your thoughts?
Is it going to be hard to say? Spelling difficulties? Would my daughter hate me if I gave her this name?
There's something drawing me to it. And it's not my usual style. Would you say it's a modern name? Although it's after quite a historic concept?
Can be brutally honest!

I’ve personally never liked it I’m afraid. I don’t like the “ROARRR!” sound in it.

But I know it’s quite popular and thought of as a pretty name, so I realise I’m just being a bit silly.

purpleme12 · 12/08/2024 22:56

I like it

It's quite girly

And conversely the one I know has the nickname Rori which doesn't feel girly at all!

purpleme12 · 12/08/2024 22:56

But she uses full name and nickname

octoberfarm · 12/08/2024 22:57

I like it! Rory for a nickname Smile

Ellmau · 12/08/2024 22:57

I like it.

Sittingonthefence83 · 12/08/2024 22:57

I immediately think of Sleeping Beauty, not in a bad way though

BrookGreen54 · 13/08/2024 00:11

It’s a bit Disney Princess if I’m perfectly honest OP!

ThisHangryPinkBalonz · 13/08/2024 00:17

My friend's teen is called that and at school, they call her " a whore her"

purpleme12 · 13/08/2024 00:18

Oh dear

RogueFemale · 13/08/2024 00:20

I hate it. The sound of it is awful, - OR-ROAR-AH. Nothing pretty about it.

Edit: and the adult Aurora, - hours on the phone spelling it out to people. ALPHA UNIFORM ROMEO OSCAR ROMEO ALPHA

Turophilic · 13/08/2024 00:28

A bit tricky if your child is struggling saying R, like many do. Ah-woah-wah

Greek goddess of the dawn name, Disney Sleeping Beauty name. Quite pretty

Toddlerteaplease · 13/08/2024 00:34

Awful. Such an ugly sound.

HiImDory · 13/08/2024 00:36

I like it

Starabella · 13/08/2024 00:48

I think it's very pretty! It's also a hugely popular name in Italy, not just a Disney princess!

BoleynMemories13 · 13/08/2024 05:39

I really dislike it I'm afraid (you asked for honesty). It's a mouthful to say and a nightmare for those who can't pronounce their Rs (imagine Jonathan Ross saying it).

It's also very trendy/Disney Princess which is totally the opposite to my own personal style.

I lump it with names like Luna and Nova which have all just come out of nowhere and will date quite badly imo.

Meredusoleil · 13/08/2024 05:51

I like it. Pretty and nice meaning (dawn) too. Also like the nn Rora rather than Rory.

Wow! That is proper nasty 😳

lazysummerdayz · 13/08/2024 06:36

It's awful. You aren't raising a Disney princess

Firsttimebabymummy · 13/08/2024 06:39

I find it too Disney Princess too

Summerose · 13/08/2024 06:40

I love it. My MIL 's name and would have been my dc's name, if they had turned out to be a girl.

Zeeze · 13/08/2024 06:52

I like it. It’s hardly a fad - I believe a it’s quite popular in southern Europe.

shoopshoopdedoo · 13/08/2024 07:28

I don’t like it at all, in honesty. It’s too frilly and princess-y for my taste, and suddenly trendy in the UK.

Moreteaandchocolate · 13/08/2024 07:31

It’s ok, just a bit princessy to me and I’m not keen on Rory for short.

Mumofgirls2017 · 13/08/2024 07:58

I love it, beautiful 😍
