Need the most unusual/out there boys names you can think of

Baby due Jan 2025. Already have a girl's name picked - don't want to say what as it's too outing if anyone knows me on here, it's an unusual rarely used name but lovely and everyone we've told really likes it and we are very happy with it.

We can't agree on a boy's name at all. I already have a DS (previous partner) with quite an unusual name but still in the top 100 but my DH definitely likes more "out there" names!
Give me your favourite unique boy names for inspiration please! We've looked at thousands of names on lists and just can't find one we like for a boy whatsoever. I know we have plenty of time (and might not even have a boy) but with my son I had his name picked before I was ever even pregnant so I'm struggling not knowing!

*The recently newborn heir to the (no longer actually in existence) Bavarian throne (great - or great, great... grandson of the famous king Ludwig who built Neuschwanstein) is called

Rupprecht

which is certainly unusual even in Bavaria*

Isn't that just the German form of Rupert?

I used to know a Lazarus. He went by Ross

Birchey · 09/08/2024 07:44

Don't know if it's been suggested already as haven't read all the replies but always thought Atticus is a nice name

We love Lars. Everyone were mentioned it to has hated it.

We also love Fable as a unisex name. Haven't dared mention this to anyone in real life, I think they'd think we were mad.

Oh Lars is a great one!

My son is Gilbert which always gets amazing reactions because everyone knows it but you never hear it. My daughter is Marcella which is equally rare but gets '🤨 ...what?' reactions 😅

On our boy short list for my last pregnancy were:

Conrad
Julian
Lucien
Edmond

I had a great grandad called Kinross and grandads called Clarence and Evelyn Kay . They're pretty unusual .

@Trebol Thank you 🥰 Gil loves his name.

Our Marcie is a Mar-sell-a as we have no Italian ancestry* so we decided that it would be strange to use their pronunciation. It was the name of one of my nanna's great aunts who was Irish.

Marcie's been called Mar-chell-a a few times already however! I like that her name is pan European, like Gilbert ☺️

I'm surprised you know two! Are they both English and how old are they?

*Unless you go back to the 12th century! 😂

Ludovic. Lots of good nickname options.

Orlando - landó for short !

I knew an Obi. Would he 18 now, wonder how he is getting on

JazbayGrapes · 09/08/2024 15:38

Bledard. I have no idea what nationality he was, but certainly not Russian speaking - it sounds like a very rude word.

Hmm all the ones that are coming up for me are just names from other cultures so they’ll be popular there even if not here 😄

My friend’s kid has a kid called Logix in their school.

It’s hard because in the hunt for a unique name you’re just going to have to end up putting letters together and making up your own. Unless you go down the Graham, Clive, Paul route, there are no babies called those these days!

Poor thing!

Anotheranonymousname · 09/08/2024 22:21

The most unusual names I've ever had in my class include:

Atlas
Atticus
Dino (pr. Dee-no)
Kyd
Zephyr
Ziggy

timoteigirl · 10/08/2024 07:35

I don't think some names here are unusual at all - for example Atticus.
