Something short and easy to spell so it will fit on a form....how do you pronounce it?

KanIstartagain · 29/07/2024 12:21

Leo!
James
Stephen
Ethan
John
Austin
I think you need something short and easy to pronounce.

Bananalanacake · 29/07/2024 12:22

Wayne and Garry are very nice names.

toastofthetown · 29/07/2024 12:23

Are you religious? I think Joseph and David sound good with Nehemiah, but together I’d assume the parent was very devout. None religiously, I think Rupert and Cedric sound good. Two syllable consonant heavy names generally seem to compliment it. One syllable names too, but they are very popular for middle names.

elliejjtiny · 29/07/2024 12:24

My eldest has a long biblical first name and we went with a short middle name (John) to go with it.

otravezempezamos · 29/07/2024 12:25

Something short like James, Mark, Luke (going for Biblical names if that’s why you have picked the first name)

Berga · 29/07/2024 12:25

Pronounced Nee-uh-mai-uh.

I agree with PPs about a shorter traditional middle name.

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/07/2024 12:28

Do you not like your child, lol? Chill, joke. I assume it has some religious or family significance. I’ve never heard of it. I would keep any middle name very plain and simple if that’s the first name..

Sunshine1500 · 29/07/2024 12:31

I don’t think you need a middle name

Mycatsmudge · 29/07/2024 12:34

1 syllable: John, Mark, Luke, Job,Jude

ComealongMartha · 29/07/2024 12:35

Gorgeous name.
Can’t go wrong with James.

Nehemiah is the name of one of the Old Testament books, for those who haven't heard of it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Nehemiah

Wiki warns us not to confuse it with the Book of Nahum, which reminds me that my beloved Grandpa used to tell a joke I can't remember now whose punchline was Nae Hum! (Scottish family.)

HotCrossBunplease · 29/07/2024 13:01

It’s not a million miles in sound from Naomi for a girl, is it? (By which I mean not so unusual that people will struggle with it)

Jeremiah is pretty mainstream these days, I am sure that Nehemiah won’t cause too many problems once people have heard it once.

As for middle name, my own view is that these are about acknowledging family, not about what sounds good. My son has my late Dad’s name as his middle name.

If you have nobody you want to acknowledge then just leave it and don’t have one. I don’t, have one, has never been an issue (in my case it was because my parents didn't want to be seen favouring one side of the family over the other. I also have a fairly long first name, like Nehemiah will).

Werweisswohin · 29/07/2024 13:07

Something short or shortish.

Luke
Paul
John

Thomas
Stephen
Michael

I don't mind Nehemiah but not overly keen on Neo for short tbh.
