Brother name for Eli

Edizzler25 · 26/07/2024 20:43

so I have 7 weeks left and no closer to a name for my baby boy. My first son is called Eli.

names we are brainstorming:

Kurt
Leo
Kit
Otis
Obie
Remy
Milo
Albie
Nate

Leo would be our “safe” choice but it’s so popular now. I like a bit different but not too out there… I worry some of the above might be overly trendy.

we have a long unusual Dutch surname so we prefer a shorter simpler name.

any help / opinions appreciated!!

Kurt - awful

Leo - lovely and although ocular a few years ago. It doesn't seem to be popular in my area for babies and toddlers

Kit - nice as a nn but wouldnt use as a full name

Otis - cute, shares a similar vibe to Eli. Yes Eli and Otis really work together

Obie - not a fan

Remy - nope

Milo - ok but is a bit faddy and will probably date like other end in an o names

Albie - know loads of little Albie's so if popularity bothers you I wouldn't choose this

Nate Cute as a nn for Nathaniel

Thank you. I think you’re right about Eli and Otis being a nice pair for siblings

Started typing but would have just been this 100%

Leo is popular here tho, as is Albie. Otis would be my choice! :]

i like the middle name Alexander to go with Otis. William is my sons middle name, we picked a longer more traditional middle name for him to balance out his shorter more modern first name as a back up in case he ever didn’t like Eli when he’s older so I want to do the same for this baby!

Also any other shorter cute boy name ideas would be very welcome!!

This would be absolutely gorgeous!! I'm biased as have an Alexandra and she would have been Alexander if she were a boy 🤣

Hmm I'd suggest maybe (but do prefer Otis) Finn, Theo, Miles, Levi, Ash, Quinn

We liked Quinn when we were having our first son but it’s too much of a mouthful with our surname sadly.

Theo and miles are nice but so popular. I have a friend with siblings with those names

@Firsttimebabymummy I like all of your suggestions.

Eli and Leo is a lot of l's to say quickly when you are calling them across the park.

Ah OK! I've never met an Otis/Theo/Miles/Quinn.

Shiloh might be same vibe? It's longer tho. Jude?

I do think Otis Alexander is gorgeous.

I agree, I said the same to my husband. I don’t want their names to sound too matchy matchy either

I think all your options are good names!
Nice to match Eli with another short name, and all the names on your list are pretty short.

My favourites would be
Eli and Kit
Eli and Otis
Eli and Nate

I asked my son if he liked Kit and he said “yes, I’ll call him kitty” little cutie he is 😍

We have Otis and Eli on our list! Love Otis Alexander. I really like Kit but as a nickname, but I don’t love Christopher. Is it short for anything else?

Others we’re thinking about / might work for you:

Theodore / Theo
Rory
Jude
Elliot (probably too close to Eli for you)
Evan
Noah
Jonah
Micah
Mac
Roscoe
Reuben
Caleb

Loads of solid choices on here thanks so much!!

we would use Kit as a standalone name rather than a nn for a longer name.

jude is like the new Oliver / Ollie where we live. another one so common / popular now (if you care about that).

Eli was the only name we could agree on for my first son. He does really suit the name though and we’ve only met 2 others in passing.
