Brother name for Eli

Edizzler25 · 26/07/2024 20:43

so I have 7 weeks left and no closer to a name for my baby boy. My first son is called Eli.

names we are brainstorming:

Kurt
Leo
Kit
Otis
Obie
Remy
Milo
Albie
Nate

Leo would be our “safe” choice but it’s so popular now. I like a bit different but not too out there… I worry some of the above might be overly trendy.

we have a long unusual Dutch surname so we prefer a shorter simpler name.

any help / opinions appreciated!!

Bram is a great Dutch name that goes well with Eli, and whilst unusual in the UK, its not difficult to pronounce or spell.

I am slightly biased as we called ds Bram, and I still love it now.

So this thread is a few weeks old and me and my my husband and I are still undecided…

But we have a last minute idea and both like the name Ari. (Pronounced Ah-Ree). Any thoughts on this?

Thinking of a middle name like Ari Noah, Ari Nathaniel, Ari Benjamin.

Ari Nathaniel is nice.

I like Nate too. Or Otis.

I know siblings called Eli & Albie.

Excuse me? Why is it random? It is a nice name similar to Eli.

I asked for opinions on the name Ari and you replied with a single word - a different name - with zero context… hence why I commented that your answer was random…

In your first post you don't mention Ari...
You are just rude, why to ask opinions in a forum if you don't like people giving you their opinion?
Ari is nice but in some countries will be confuse with Ariadna (Ari for short).

Love Leo but feel like saying both together is a tongue twister 'Eli and Leo' (think it's the 2 'L's')

My thought without opening the thread was 'Eli and Cole' for some reason so I'll say Kit or Kurt from your list. The C/K sound goes really well in my opinion

ETA - just saw your update, Ari is also really nice

Normallynumb · 01/09/2024 15:56

Eli and Otis sound perfect together
My DS1 friend has Eli and Asa

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 01/09/2024 19:42

I think Ari will have a lifetime of people mispronouncing it –. Ah-ree versus Arry (which would sound cockney for “Harry”!). Just something to think about.

We occasionally have Eli pronounced “Ellie” (usually by non native English speakers) but I just politely correct and move on so that wouldn’t bother me too much.

i also think names like aria being more common helps people to be more open minded to pronounciations
