Hi everyone!

I'm expecting my 3rd baby this September. A baby girl! I want to give "Amber" as her middle name and I'm looking for a first name that would suit best. Any suggestions please?

Thank you in advance!!!

Why not use Amber as the first name?
It's a lovely name.

I’d agree with this. Amber is gorgeous!

My DD is Amber Katherine, in her 20s now. There are lots of names ending in the 'uh' sound so wanted to avoid one of those.

I was going to suggest Catherine Amber but someone has come close!

Agree completely with this!

It's a beautiful name and very underused.

Glad I’m not the only daftie 😁

OP, I like it for a first name but a serious suggestion - Elizabeth gets my vote.

Eh? Amber does end in 'uh'.

Eh? Amber does end in 'uh'.

Only in certain accents. Definitely doesn’t end in ‘uh’ if you pronounce it phonetically and properly.

EoinMahoney · 12/07/2024 18:28

@Malahide , why are you meant to pronounce it phonetically?

First name suggestions for "Amber"
WhereIsMyLight · 12/07/2024 18:29

Surely it depends on the initial of you surname as putting an ‘A’ means it can easily make a 3 letter word. PAT might be fine but you might not want FAT.

Eh? Amber does end in 'uh'.

Surely it's an 'er' sound?

EoinMahoney · 12/07/2024 18:30

@ChopSue , who are you calling daftie? Grin Great username. Mine is meant to be pronounced Owin Mahney.

LiterallyOnFire · 12/07/2024 18:32

There isn't one "proper" accent.

It definitely ends in "uh"/"er" in southern England because in southern England "uh" and "we" are virtually interchangeable sounds.

Pronouncing it 'properly' is Ambuh. That is the name.

"UH" and "ER" are interchangeable in Southern accents, I mean.
