How would you pronounce Caius?

1. Kay-us
2. Kye-us
3. Keys
4. Something else?

Kye-us. First part rhyming with eye.

Twins. Who grow up to be hired assassins.

My ds's best friend in kindy/school was Caius, pronounced Kai-uss.

Keys but have links with college so seems very weird to use that as a name.

I've never heard this name and thought 'K(eye)-uss' on reading it, so on that note I'll go with your option 2.

God I'm shit at trying to spell phonetically 🤣. I'm 43 though so I hope that has some relevance.

As a former Caian I would never be able to see it as anything others than keys (due to the doc's Hyacinth Bucket like behaviour)

I’d say Keys but it’s dds second choice of college which may be influencing me 😁

The lesson here is don't name your kid something people don't know how to pronounce. It'll be annoying for them their whole life

Well seeing as I don’t actually live in the Roman Empire how Caesar pronounced it wouldn’t spring to mind no 🙄 Strong links to many Caians so it’s keys to me. Quite a silly choice however pronounced.

Number 1 is just wrong.

number 2 is the pronunciation based on the original Biblical name

Number 3 is the name of a Cambridge college. It’s a bit like the Magdalen Colleges at both Ox and Cantab - pronounced “Maudlin” for those colleges . But pronounced Mag-da-len as a given name.
