Longer name for Lovey

We LOVE the name Lovey for a little girl, but obviously for more professional circumstances/later life it wouldn't be appropriate. Any ideas for what Lovey could be a nickname for?

Do you not like your unborn child? Do you have any idea how much a child called Lovey will get teased at school?

You could call her anything at all and just use Lovey the same way you'd use Honey or Sweetheart.

In fact, I call the children I teach Lovey now that I think of it. Especially if I'm supervising in a room of younger children and I don't know all their names

This. You can use a pet name with any name. She does not need to be called Lovey at school etc - that is frankly ridiculous. Give the poor child a proper name. If you’re already worrying re: professional implications then that should already be telling you not to do it. Pregnancy hormones are to blame

Loveday is a real name though with history.

Not Lovey though, that is like naming your child Darling, Sweetie, Baby, Cupcake or Honey! (Actually I have heard of people using Honey, better for a Golden Retriever or a Labrador than a person I feel).

Why can’t you just call her Lovey as a nickname and give her a nice normal name that has no connections to it?

Just give her a proper name. Then you can use lovey as a family nickname.

Jane. Or anything, really. Millions of children out there must be regularly referred to as Love/lovey/lovely/my lovely whilst having completely unrelated first names.

Just call her Lovey at home as a nickname. It doesn’t need to be a shorter version of her file name. Our DD’s pet name from us is ‘Pud (Pudding)’. Her name doesn’t begin with a P.

I can't bare the fact that it sounds like McMuffin though 😂
