Dont worry Hulababy unless you no my situation you wouldnt of guessed saying i have 6 kids all the time gets confusing for people cos when they meet me & see me with 4 kids & 1 on the way they ask questions & it gets abit upsetting having to explain about Chardonnay or i find it makes people uncomfortable. but i dont like denying her as she is my daughter.

Cazzybabs- the name kyrell is my dps choice he said if he ever had a son this is what he would like to call him. We have twin girls together no boys my only son is Jaeden. All of my children are mixed race (white-black) some names suit white kids more or mixed kids ect all my kids names suit them if you get my drift.

Renaissance means "rebirth" (not "new beginning") and is pronounced "re-ness-ance", with the first syllable rhyming with "burn".

Forget about Renaisse/Renayce/etc. It is not a name (not in French and definitely not in English) and she will spend her whole life explaining her name to strangers on the phone. Call her Eve or Renee and tell her the story of her name being the rekindling of parents' romance.

This is the French pronunciation.

QuintessentialShadows · 09/04/2008 22:23

I think Renayce is the most phonetic and tells people how you want to pronounce it. Renaisse is a prettier spelling though.

Carmenere · 09/04/2008 22:30

Marijka is a name though, a lovely name too. I have a VERY unusual name that I have had to explain just about every day of my life. But it is actually a name. i can say my parents christened me a proper name, your dd will have to say that you made it up, she may find this a bit embarrassing.

Renayce will be pn Ren-ace. However, I might initially wonder if Renayce were male or female if I saw it written down.

Renaisse would also be pn Ren-ace by ppl who'd heard of the Renaissance. It also looks like a pretty girl's name and the origins of the name are evident in the spelling.

theUrbanNixie · 09/04/2008 22:44

4kids - are you Dutch? i know the name Marijke but she's Dutch!!

FWIW i don't like Renaisse as a name. love love love Renee though. even if it does remind me of Allo Allo!

CoteDAzur · 09/04/2008 22:46

"ppl who'd heard of the renaissance"

TheUrbanNixie- No im not dutch im as english as they come but you are right the name is dutch also its common or so iv been told in S-Afrika.My mum as a little girl had a friend from Holland called Marijka & thats where she got the name from actually my name at first was Kia but they changed it when they got me registered. Apparently its dutch for Mary not sure though as the name has different spellings.
