Please please please go with the most phonetic spelling. I have a made up name and I am sick and tired of having to spell it to people.

suwoo · 09/04/2008 21:44

Renaisse does go well with the other kids names though.....

fireflytoo · 09/04/2008 21:45

sickandtired I meant

fireflytoo · 09/04/2008 21:46

It is a lovely name...just spell it the way it sounds...please

4kids · 09/04/2008 21:48

I think you all might be reading the pronounciation wrong i dont want the end of the name soonding like AZE- Ren-aze it would be Ren-ace.

I am wondering if the old rickty bridge is shaking...

but if it is not (and I am rubbish at spotting this kind of thing) I would go with Renaisse

berolina · 09/04/2008 21:52

No, sorry, still sounds like room spray, or possibly a manufactured girl band.

Sorry for harshness, 4kids, but it would be a mistake.

berolina · 09/04/2008 21:52

cazzybabs, I thought that too, tbh, esp after reading the siblings' names.

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 21:53

If you are going to use it, I would assume, from the way you wish to pronounce it, it was spelt Renaisse.

fireflytoo · 09/04/2008 21:53

Then that is how you should spell it. It is the sound of it which is important after all. I do like it. It is lovely and unusual without being pretentious or any of all that.

Say the name to some people and see what they come up with spelling wise.... choose the spelling that comes up most.

well that is what swung it for me....

fireflytoo · 09/04/2008 21:54

I meant.... RENACE.

Heated · 09/04/2008 21:54

or counting the siblings names

4kids · 09/04/2008 21:55

I think i might go with the spelling Renace or Renayce because with these spellings its pronounced the way i want it to sound. but the spelling Renaisse looks more sophisticated but i think people will sound it with the aze at the end & not the ace as i want.

And not to be offensive 4kids - could you explain Kyrell to me?

Not sure re the bridge malarky. OP been on prev threads and been here in past too.

However, post By 4kids on Mon 07-Apr-08 20:24:19 said she was due to have baby No5, not 6??? Mistype maybe though.

Still think Renaisse is better of the spellings.

PippiLongBottom · 09/04/2008 22:00

She said this one is no6 and listed 5 other names, I checked that too .

4kids · 09/04/2008 22:01

No Hulababy you are not wrong on another thread i did put no 5 let me explain My daughter Chardonnay died 14yrs ago when she was 10 days old so this is baby no 6 for me. But will be no 5 at home as i have 4 living kids this baby makes no5.

The more you move away from Renaisse the more you lose the meaning behind the name.

QuintessentialShadows · 09/04/2008 22:02

Oh, I wouldnt worry too much about whether the name sounds sophisticated or not.

Renaisse would be pronounced more like RE-Ness, like, same ending as in Guinness

If you want an Ace ending, it should be Renace, or Renayce.

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 22:03

Sorry 4kids - have just seen about your DD, Chardonnay. My sincere apologies.

FWIW I don't think you are a sus poster - as I sais you have been here a while on and off. I recognise your name.

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 22:03

Xpost - apologies again.

cazzybabs · 09/04/2008 22:05

OH in that case I am sorry too...hope I haven't offended you!

Sorry ot hear about your daughter.
