I like the name Avery. What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
urbanbuddha · 26/06/2024 04:26

I like it.

Sparkle88K · 26/06/2024 05:26

There's a little girl at our baby sensory class called Avery, I like it

Wrongsideofpennines · 26/06/2024 05:44

I love it. Totally love it, and it would have been top of our list had we had a different surname. Honestly gutted I will not be able to use it. I really liked Avis too but my husband knew someone quite a lot older with the name and it would have been a too weird.

It would have been my top name for a boy too. I think its nice that it can be gender neutral.

Labels L7159 to be exact.

lifesrichpageant · 26/06/2024 06:13

its okay although a bit common in North America.

MadameMassiveSalad · 26/06/2024 06:58

I prefer Waverley

Zoflorabore · 26/06/2024 06:59

I love it!!

Billyballyboo · 26/06/2024 07:02

I've only heard it as a man's name in a book. Not sure it works for a girl but it's not awful.

Reminds me of Charlotte's Web. It's a brave choice for a British girls name.

My 93 year old British grandmother’s name :) I love it OP!

Edit: having read more replies… Maybe there are 2 sets of people, people who DGAF about names also being brand names (you know how brands are often named after people? 😄) and those who really do care.
In our family, as well as an Avery we have someone named the same as a model of car, a bike shop, a lift company, a nail polish company. Probably more. I’m failing to see why it matters 😄

I prefer Waverley

I like Waverley too. It’s our council though, so emblazoned on all the wheelie bins round here. Plus a train station in Edinburgh. But I like unusual names (unlike many on this thread 😄) and can appreciate that Waverley is a very pretty sound.

The only Avery I know is male. It’s a boys name.

The only Avery I know is female. It’s a girl’s name.

Closed minded or what 😄

DuchessOfSausage · 26/06/2024 10:40

The only Avery I know has a first name and Avery is her surname.

avarteahaba · 26/06/2024 15:57

dizzydizzydizzy · 26/06/2024 18:53

And weighing scales!

squishee · 26/06/2024 21:33

Averie seems more feminine. I know of one (American)

DuchessOfSausage · 26/06/2024 21:48

Averie is bloomin' awful

This! Looks mispellt!

Did I spell mispelt right? 😆

DuchessOfSausage · 26/06/2024 22:54

Averie looks like you'd say it as Aver-y, (like the Aver in Average)

Normandy144 · 26/06/2024 23:08

I love it and really wanted to use it but for various reasons we couldn't, but if circumstances had been different I would have used it. It's very popular in North America and has been around originally as a boys name I believe. I just googled it and it is an old English name, means Ruler or Elves. If you love it go for it. I don't think the association with a label company are exactly something to worry about.
