Yes I like it!

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 11/06/2024 17:04

Lovely ! Not heard it for ages.
may get shortened on occasion to Jules ?

is Alex actually Alexander ?

Amendment · 11/06/2024 17:05

I only like it for girls -- Julian of Norwich etc. Julian for boys reminds me of Insufferably Bossy Julian in the Famous Five, always trying to get George to stay in her lane and make beds while the boys went out catching smugglers and patronising farmers' wives..

Julius, I like, and the two I have known were both incredibly goodlooking.

SomewhereOverTheHill · 11/06/2024 17:06

No, but Ive only ever known slimy characters called Julian irl, so I’m probably biased!

It's a bit wet.

SallyWD · 11/06/2024 17:08

I love it.

BardsAreAssholes · 11/06/2024 17:11

Bossy Famous Five kid or slimy Tory politician, I’m afraid.

Possibly a headteacher, or lieutenant in the military. Almost certainly a toff, and emotionally crippled. Cheats on his wife, keeps crooked books.

Not keen on Julius at all. I don't even remember the famous five actually. Must have read it as a child too.

Every Julian I have known has been a bit slimy and emotionally unintelligent, so I tend to agree with the pp.

AlwaysCloudyAtNoon · 11/06/2024 17:18

I like Julian and you don't come across it that often nowadays. Jules as nn is lovely.

IMO of course. In a similar style- Jude? Jonah?

1984Winston · 11/06/2024 17:43

Personally I love it and really want it for my next cat (as done having babies!)

Mandarinaduck · 11/06/2024 17:46

Lovely name. Go for it!

ManilowBarry · 11/06/2024 17:46

One of my husbands closest friends is called Julian and he is the loveliest man and I've known a couple of other Julian's and all were throughly nice men.

Floralnomad · 11/06/2024 17:47

I really like it but the only ones I’ve met irl are French vets

Oneearringlost · 11/06/2024 17:48

Definitely!
I love it.

RubySloth · 11/06/2024 17:48

Love it... dont hear it often. Only known nice guys with that name.

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 11/06/2024 17:49

I have a family member called Julian / Jules. Don’t like either I’m afraid!

MaryFuckingFerguson · 11/06/2024 17:51

I completely love it. And you don’t get many, if any, baby Julians at the moment, so he’d likely be the only one in his class.

One of my much older sisters was a huge Teardrop Explodes fan. I discovered her record collection when she’d moved out and had a huge crush on Julian Cope, so I’ve always thought it was a cool name!

This is a troll so we're taking this down now.

TM1979 · 11/06/2024 17:54

Not the worst but all I can think of is Julian, Dick & George. It’s a bit wussy

Lilacdew · 11/06/2024 17:55

It's a good name. It's not to my taste but I don't know why as it is a very strong, classic name. Go for it, if you like it.

Babadook76 · 11/06/2024 17:57

He’ll get ‘I like to move it move it’ sung at him all day

Words · 11/06/2024 17:58

Great name. So much better than the ghastly and over prevalent 'Jude'
