Annie short for...?

We're not keen on double first names like Anna-Maria but looking for a nice way to have Annie as a NN.

DD1 has a longer name and is exclusively known by the NN so hoping for something similar. Any ideas?

Annie on birth certificate

If you are only going to call her Annie then put Annie down on the birth certificate. She doesn't need a longer name if you'll never call her that. If you call her a longer name then her friends might refer to her by her full name or a different nn.

My mum is Anne but known as Annie to all her loved ones. I love it because Anne is so classic, simple and unfussy but Annie is fun and cute and quite cool.

I've got one of the longer names, which was shortened to Annie as a child by friends. I detested it. I wanted to be known by my actual name.

I loved the name Annie so much when naming my daughter, but I knew she'd have this hair and it wouldn't have been fair to her 😂

Oh my gosh, such beautiful curls 😍

I would assume Annie was either Annie or Anne on her birth cert.

TempsPerdu · 05/06/2024 13:51

I’d go for Annika or Antonia. Not keen on Annabel/le - bit too frilly/horsey for me!

Annie makes a nice nickname - has a bit of energy and character to it.

Annie is a lovely name in it’s own right shrug 🤷🏼‍♀️ Why don’t you just use it?

Anne or Anna

I know an Anwyn (Welsh name but she's not a Welsh child) who's called Annie. I think Anwyn is a lovely name and a refreshing change from Annabel. I find names like Anastasia a bit too much! I also really love Ann/Anne/Anna for their simplicity.

If you want to call her Annie why not name her Ann, Anna or Anne?
