Thoughts on.... Romy

Sorry another post. What are your thoughts on the name Romy? Pronounced Ro-mee...
Would it get mispronounced as Ro-my?
Read that it means Dew of the Sea, with mediterrean links to Rosemary.
Would have it as given name not short for anything.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PandyMoanyMum · 25/05/2024 22:15

I think it is a beautiful name.

Badgersonthedoorstep · 25/05/2024 22:17

It's OK. I knew a Romy at school. Never thought it was odd. Never heard it mispronounced.

Moreteaandchocolate · 25/05/2024 22:36

I really like it - a lovely name. I know one pronounced Ro-mee and it suits her perfectly:)

ladybirdsanchez · 25/05/2024 22:38

Boris and Carrie Johnson have a Romy

TeaKitten · 25/05/2024 22:38

It’s a nice name, but very common at the minute. If you don’t mind that then that’s perfect!

MalibuBarbieDreamHouse · 25/05/2024 22:40

I don’t see it at a “beautiful” name but it’s nice, hearing it alot recently.

randomas · 25/05/2024 22:42

Love it. As long as you don't mind it being popular x

tizalinatuna · 25/05/2024 22:59

I think of Romy Schneider, Austria's tragic sweetheart. It's a good name.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 26/05/2024 01:39

I associate it with BoJos daughter.

Hols23 · 26/05/2024 02:01

I prefer Romilly. The Boris association would put me off Romy.

Kitkat1523 · 26/05/2024 02:08

why Would you name a kid after Boris Johnson’s DD?🙄

merrymelodies · 26/05/2024 03:09

Romy Schneider Smile

MistyHazelFox · 26/05/2024 06:44

I also prefer Romilly.

Weird. There are plenty of Romys in the world.

OP it's a fab name. Go for it.

Owl9to5 · 26/05/2024 07:26

I like it. Prefer Rosemary to Romilly though. Not that you need a full name!

Spinachandcheese · 26/05/2024 07:32

...And Michelle's high school reunion.

user1492757084 · 26/05/2024 07:33

Romy is fine.
Rosemary is an exceptionally lovely name.

JimPansy · 26/05/2024 14:56

It's better than Rosemary or Romilly but I don't really like it.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/05/2024 15:12

Lovely.
I once worked with a Romany which is even better I think

Heartbreaktuna · 26/05/2024 15:26

Romany pronounced like the nomadic romani gypsies?

Skybluepinky · 26/05/2024 15:40

Lots of them around and certainly never heard it pronounced the other way, if u r happy it’s common use it.

That's not suitable as a name.

BoleynMemories13 · 26/05/2024 18:46

I find it a bit of a weak sounding name if I'm honest, not my style at all but not my baby so each to their own.

Romilly is lovely.

Spanishsenorota · 26/05/2024 22:37

@BoleynMemories13 Is Romilly pronounced Rom-illy or Row-milly? I've not considered it purely due to having no clue how to pronounce

Love it for both a girl or a boy. If we didn't know a grown up one closely we'd use it!
