Thoughts on Flora Green?
Obviously Green is the surname.

Moreteaandchocolate · 24/05/2024 22:55

I like the name Flora :)

Hermione7 · 24/05/2024 22:56

It's nice

Janedoe82 · 24/05/2024 22:57

No- I would go for Florence. Flora makes me think of margarinez

Ratatouille1 · 24/05/2024 22:57

I like it, I have a lovely friend with this name, never associated it with margarine

Notellinganyone · 24/05/2024 22:58

Lovely x

YellowRollercoaster · 24/05/2024 22:58

Its a lovely name, and very under used

Cocothecoconut · 24/05/2024 23:00

And fauna

ItsSconeNotScone · 24/05/2024 23:06

Lovely name!

Yes, there is a margarine called “flora” but lots of names are also brand names. Doesn’t mean it’s not a perfectly nice name still ☺️

CJ0374 · 24/05/2024 23:10

'Flora Green' sounds like a natural cleaning product 😬

Sorry, it was the first thing that came to my mind. I don't mind Flora, but prefer Fleur. What is the middle name? What do you like about Flora? The floral connection, nature, 2 syllables?

CrushingOnRubies · 24/05/2024 23:34

It's alright. Prefer Florence

Flora, Reminds me of butter, and what you call cows and dogs

PlantDoctor · 24/05/2024 23:35

Flora is lovely but I don't like it with your surname sadly! Someone said Florence above - I like that better with Green

Goldrill · 24/05/2024 23:36

I've got a Flora G. So obviously, I think it's lovely!
She is at secondary school and has so far not been teased about it.
(Her big sister is sometimes referred to as Fauna)

peanutbuttertoasty · 24/05/2024 23:39

have you considered teresa?

flora is greenery so a bit of a daft pairing IMO , and that’s ignoring all Benecol-like associations

SabreIsMyFave · 24/05/2024 23:40

Yeah, margarine sorry @Jollytots34

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/05/2024 23:41

Fine with the surname imo, yes there is a slight nature vibe but it’s no big deal. Flora has pretty, retro charm and with the steady rise of Nora and Cora, I think Flora might increase enough too that people won’t necessarily think of the spread first anymore.

Catlord · 24/05/2024 23:45

I don't like it sorry, margarine and yeast infections are what Flora brings to mind. Soz.

Greengrapeofhome · 24/05/2024 23:47

I think it sounds like a cleaning product too with your surname. I agree that Florence would be better. Or Nora / fleur/ Fflur / Ffion

NewName24 · 25/05/2024 00:15

I want to say 'Flora and Fauna' too
I also get an image of the margarine tub in my mind.

Maybe it is more often used as a name in Scotland ?

Starlightstarbright3 · 25/05/2024 00:16

I love it . Do you like Florence ? Flora then as shortened version

Babyboomtastic · 25/05/2024 00:18

Better than I can't believe it's not butter Green.

Sorry, the margarine connotations are too strong for me as well personally.

OuijaBoard · 25/05/2024 00:30

I think that Green is a challenging surname - like Park, Field, Lane, etc. it invites people to see the full name (first plus last, as most people will not know the middle) as a possible place name. However, I don't find Flora especially bad, and personally I like the name and might use it - but I am Scottish and it's been an established and unremarkable name for eons; I wonder if people who associate it so strongly with the company are from places where there is less of a history of "Flora" as just simply a girl's/woman's name? By the way, in case it makes a difference, "Flora" as a margarine company has not footprint outwith the UK except for a vague association with feminism/women's rights.

Theoldwoman · 25/05/2024 00:40

Vegan butter

NetMum2 · 25/05/2024 06:03

Flora honestly makes me think of bacteria and infections. I did wonder what would come up on Google if you type in the name/two words and the top 3 hits are a free productivity app, a herbal liquor and a paint colour.

Florence Green is very similar and a much nicer name in my opinion.

Flora Green
Florence Green - looks better too?

Also, if you say Flora Green out loud without a conscious pause between forename and surname, it sounds like Floragreen!

Stichintime · 24/05/2024 22:51

Vegan marg?

This.
