And I'm not even pg, just thinking about potential DC2. We had an awful time thinking of a girl's name the first time round and are stuck again.

So... what do you think of Beatrice BUT spelt (and poss pronounced) the French way, i.e. Beatrice with an accent on the first e? (can't do symbols). Neither DH or I are French, tho he has Franco-Belgian family.

Beatrice isn't getting too popular is it?

I think it's a nice name, quite popular.
I wouldn't do the fancy spelling though, it would be daft

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 13:09

but is sounds better

Yes, but you will spend a life time getting REALLY pissed off that no one ever says it correctly!

no one will get it tho.

you'll be explaining it all the time

kittywise · 03/04/2008 13:12

It's just not worth it!

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 13:12

Not in the top 100 names of 2007 tho (I checked)

Or is it just popular in the Middle Classes?

DH's other suggestions were Emanuelle and Gisele - think he's having a French obsession

Beatrice is a lovely name.
I wouldn't bother with the accent though.

bluenosesaint · 03/04/2008 13:13

Lovely name

but wouldn't do the French thing ...you will be the only one pronouncing it that way

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 13:13

I don;t mind people pronouncing it the English way though

but we would say it as bay - e - triss

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 13:13

or not

OP posts:
kittywise · 03/04/2008 13:15

Emanuelle: porn star

Beatrice, very middle class, does that matter?

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 13:15

Kitty: I thought that about Coralie (another of his suggestions)

my heckes are rising at the idea of DC having a middle class name TBH

but I am probably being unreasonable (amd middle-class)

Effie, does your dh stay up late watching, ahem, "dvd's" at night?

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 13:17

I like Gisele as well but think a bit of a risk if she turns out hefty

Nice name. Don't fart about with it

I have a stupid name that no-one can spell when they hear it, and no-one can pronounce when they see it. Drives me mad.

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 13:18

Queenie is great

Was thinking how to avoid the ubiquitous Bea...

I know I know

chances are if we manage DC2 it will be a boy anyway (which would be easier all-round )

Kitty: think Emanuelle was from Emmanuelle Beart. No idea where Coralie sprung from

The French pronunciation is a bit poncey tbh.
