DH and I are talking about names, we are pretty much decided on one, but DH vetoed a lot of names as he couldn't imagine them on a brunette/blonde

So what names do you strongly associate with blondes/brunettes/red heads?
Girl or Boy?

Clarissa (from the tv show)
Sandy
Amy
Cindy
Charlotte

Ha, yes every Charlotte I've ever known has been blonde. Emma, Chloe, Melanie, Olivia, Hayley, Freya, and Sophie are also blonde names

Brunette names are Natalie, Stephanie, Michelle, Ava, Anna

Redhead makes me think Sarah, Katie, Jennifer, Ruby

Blonde.... Samantha, Emily, Sarah

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 07/05/2024 21:18

I don't associate names with hair color. Weird!

MattDamon · 07/05/2024 21:19

Ashley and Ava are always blonde.

Deedeeee · 07/05/2024 21:23

Blonde - Sharon, Stacey, xanthe (seeing as it means yellow), honeysuckle
mousey - Jill/Jillian
dark - Clarissa,

not really making many connections! For Sharon and Stacey, I think the blonde link in my head is actually dyed blonde…

fashionqueen0123 · 07/05/2024 21:27

It will just depend on who you know though? Lots of the names on here people have said, I associate with the complete opposite colour.

Also hair changes. I was born with almost black hair and it was white blonde by the age of 4.

Most names have their own colour in my mind's eye, so it feels hard to also associate them with a hair colour. Even Marilyn (Monroe) feels reddish rather than blonde

ClipClopperDontStopper · 07/05/2024 21:34

Erica and Amanda are very blonde names to me. And Annabel.

Peachoolongtea · 07/05/2024 21:36

No idea

As a brunette Amy, I’m now considering whether my hair needs dyeing 😂

As a redheaded Amy I'm thinking the same 🤣

Strange question
blonde - Dolly
brunette - Brunhilde
Redhead - Jolene

Jolene is also the name of a bleaching product!

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/05/2024 22:06

Blonde- summer, daisy, sienna, Skye, Luna, Frederick, Leo
brunette- Hazel, willow, autumn, Felix, Harry

Evanna13 · 07/05/2024 22:43

I imagine Marilyn as a blonde.

MovingBird123 · 08/05/2024 07:04

Melissa is blonde.

sashh · 08/05/2024 07:23

My friend's child was blond until he was two when he became a redhead.

My dad was blond as a child but grew up to have dark hair.

I don't usually associate names with hair colour, but I was surprised to meet a blonde Ebony.

Moreteaandchocolate · 08/05/2024 08:21

I don’t really associate names with hair colour.
Most of the associations listed above I know more people with the opposite hair colour with those names!

Interesting that some people do have these associations though :)

HaPPy8 · 08/05/2024 08:23

Poppy, Scarlett - red hair

willow - brown hair

daisy - blonde

user1492757084 · 08/05/2024 08:43

Kimberley is a blonde name.

See it’s not to me as I know two dark haired Kim’s and then you’ve got the kardashian

bridgetreilly · 08/05/2024 11:08

Scandinavian names = blonde
Spanish/Italian names = dark
Everything else is fair game for all.

Swearwolf · 08/05/2024 11:17

Surely it depends a lot on who you know with that name, and you would make new associations depending on how your baby looked? For instance, someone upthread mentioned Heidi as a blonde name, but I know a few Heidis and they are all brunette, so I'd picture someone with dark hair. Because I'd be picturing one of my real life friends!

Hoppinggreen · 08/05/2024 11:18

Grace
Probably because the 2 I know are very blonde and also Grace Kelly

Swearwolf · 08/05/2024 11:19

Also, associating a super common name like Emma or Sarah with a hair colour is also bananas. We had like four Sarahs in my class at school and they all looked different!

AnneNotEmily · 08/05/2024 11:25

Seasons or colours are my main ones, red hair: Autumn, sienna, scarlet
blond hair: summer, Barbie (I know that’s not a season or a colour!)
