Looking for Welsh names for girls that English speakers could attempt and that aren’t too old fashioned in Wales. DH or Welsh heritage and plan to move back there at some point (North Wales)

I’m Welsh in England and struggled with this, we had boys in the end which is even harder

Manon I like. I know it’s (also) Welsh but many English might assume it’s French, if that’s an issue

Megan and Seren are nice names but won’t be pronounced in England with the last vowel. They will be Meg-un and Ser-un

I'm not sure English people ever say Welsh names 100% correctly. I think I would therefore be tempted to go with something like rosi, moli, elsi

Yes my neighbour has a Seren and has exactly this

I’m sure English ppl can learn.
I find it so insulting that we have to make sure English people have easy name to pronounce and cater to them.

Seriously, it drives me nuts that English speakers will happily ish learn how to pronounce names in any language other than Welsh, Scots or Irish (& Manx & Cornish)

I quite like Tesni ( because of potential nn Tess! 🤣) although generally my preference is for names that don’t end in an “ee” sound. My fave Welsh girls names ( sound wise) are Nia, Alys, Eirlys, Eira, Gwen, Eirian, Anwen, Catrin and Rhiannon. But I’ve only ever met one or two of each so I’m not sure how old fashioned some are or not (think Eira and Alys might be quite popular though). Many of the young girls seem to be Efa around here.

Other Welsh girl names that would be ok in England I think are Eleri, Nia, Delyth, Betsan (I like Beti) and Mabli
I live in England and I know a little Carys and that works well and it’s a well known name. I also know a little Winnie (Winifred) which I think is sweet

I struggle with Mali a little as I actually know a couple of little girls called Marley/ Marlie and I think it might be easily misheard or spelt in England. I like Mali but I really don’t like Marley…
