Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

@Missingpop - oh god yes, it’s absolutely a 6 year old’s choice for a pet.

DD’s classmate had his name drawn from the hat to name one of the class’s newly hatched chicks. He went for Penciletta.

Missingpop · 30/04/2024 18:16

Someone put name it after Jim’s missus but she left him for a taxi driver😂😂😂😂😂 it has to be a piss take

mamaandbabas · 30/04/2024 18:17

The name sounds like a children's entertainer. Jimberley the clown 🤡 😂 😂

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 30/04/2024 18:19

When I saw this, I thought 'Is this a post about an app, or a name?'

Obviously you can't but I presume you posted for a laugh...

Jemima? Jamie? Congratulations 😁

tommyhoundmum · 30/04/2024 18:24

Pleas don't

Sauvblanctime · 30/04/2024 18:29

Jim is a simply awful name to begin with.

I prefer Jimothy. Or Jimon. Or at a push Jim-Jams.

Give it a rest 😆 might as well go for Jamòn 😆

OldPerson · 30/04/2024 19:09

Oh dear.

Personally, I'd follow 33rd US President Harry S. Truman just give the daughter the middle name "J."

The S in Harry S Truman does not stand for anything - rather it honours both his grandfathers - Soloman Young and (Andersen) Shipp Truman.

Grandfather honoured. Grandfather mentioned every time people ask what the J stands for.

Parents free to think of their own name for their daughter.

lucindasspunkyfunkyvoice · 30/04/2024 19:19

Jimantha is nice
Jimmabella?
Jimma
Jimbolena
Jimotina

MagicFarawayTea · 30/04/2024 19:29

How about Jim Jiminy Jim Jiminy Jim Jim Cheroo - you need to sing it in fake Cockney accent a la Dick van Dyke

Beautiful3 · 30/04/2024 20:55

Haha 😂 So funny!

I know a little Jim and actually it’s super cute on him. It is a him though …

That’s a good idea actually OP if you’re still there …

MyLovelyPurse · 30/04/2024 21:25

My aunt and uncle were called Big Jim and Little Jim (their names were James and Jemima). I think Little Jim would work well OP.

🤣Oh my goodness..... This is the Thread that keeps on giving!
God bless you, @Netruscan - you have given so many people a laugh- The name Jimberly now surely has to be a mumsnet classic.

If you do decide to name your Daughter Jimberly, people will say ''What, after the Mumsnet classic?

And you can rightly say ''I was the trendsetter, thank you very much''.

SabreIsMyFave · 30/04/2024 23:29

It is one of the best threads I have seen for ages @oakleaffy 😆

I don't know whether the OP is serious or not, or meant this as a laugh, but I bet she didn't think it would take off like it did! 😂

At least if she just did do it for a laugh, it was unintentional, and not a deliberate attempt to try to get into 'Classics' like a poster did earlier on AIBU. It stands out a mile when people are deliberately trying too hard.

What was the post about?

MegsNaiceJam · 01/05/2024 00:45

Instead of a Slim Jim*, you could have a Slimberly Jimberly. Lose weight, feel great. Jimberly, for your nutritional needs.

*American “mechanically recovered meat” stick. A slimberly Jimberly would be made of high protein for busy mums on the go.

Was that the one about sliding at a soft play? 🤦🏻‍♀️

deste · 01/05/2024 08:52

Best laugh for a long time. Best name “Jim-Jams” and best line, “she left him for a taxi driver.”
Had to wipe away the tears.

T1Dmama · 01/05/2024 09:16

Why does it HAVE to start Jim?…. Just use the female version.
it doesn’t have to be spelt the same!
like Jack to Jacqueline. Or Charles to the female version ‘Charlotte’…
maybe Jim could be Gemma or Jenna..
or of course you could just save Jim fir when you have son,

T1Dmama · 01/05/2024 09:24

I’d go with Kimberly. Shorten it to kimmy, and Nick name her jimmy
