Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

Seems it's a genuine name, not a made up one...It's an American name meaning ''Dusty ol' trail''!

Another lovely way to make a male name a bit more feminine is to hyphenate with something pretty. I’m thinking of something like “Jim-Pansy.”

If you wanted a little fun with the spelling you could try that as Jim- Panzee which would be a lovely double reference if there’s a family love of primates.

Brilliant!

JollyJunee · 29/04/2024 20:07

This has probably already been mentioned, sorry don’t have time to read the thread. Hope it’s not a ‘cancel the cheque’ thing!
in Anne of Green Gables (Anne of the Island) she lives with Aunt Jamesina, named after her deceased father, but she gets Jimsie for everyday. Would that work?

LanaL · 29/04/2024 20:07

It sounds like when people put 2 names together to name a couple ! Like Jim and Kimberley

Calliopespa · 29/04/2024 20:08

Jimogina? Rhymes with …

Laughingllamapie · 29/04/2024 20:09

At least it shows a lot of Jimagination.

If you could manage to drop the M in Jim then Jizabel would be a beautiful choice.

Unicorntearsofgin · 29/04/2024 20:15

If you could manage to drop the M in Jim then Jizabel would be a beautiful choice.

And again with spelling tweaks you could have “ Jizzable.” And such a cute shortened version…

SnowyPetals · 29/04/2024 20:18

It's got to be Jimkhana surely?

viques · 29/04/2024 20:19

Anyone else getting Victoria Wood vibes “Have you seen my friend? She’s called Kimberley Jimberley.”

MountCaramel · 29/04/2024 20:19

Why don't you introduce yourself as Jimberley to the next stranger you meet. Their reaction will indicate what the rest of us think of that awful name. Please don't make your child a bullying target by calling her Jimberley. It's a fucking horrendous thing to do to a baby.

Jemima, Jaime, Gemma yes but absolutely no to Jimberley. Fucking awful.
