Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

I rather like Jimothy

Jimberley reminds me of an online raffle/auction platform we use at work called Jumblebee. Sorry doesn't work as a name for me!

creditdraper · 29/04/2024 16:39

Jaques is James in French and the feminine French of James is Jaqueline.
You could call her Jaqueline or the feminine form of Jamie which is Jamiey.

What about Jimena? (Meaning: Listener. A modern variation of Ximena, Jimena is a feminine name of Spanish origin.)

*my ADHD means I must take this seriously

Pronounced Himena

Mirabai · 29/04/2024 16:41

Sorry but this made me LOL. 😂 It sounds like a childrens TV programme from the 1970s about a baby lion or something!

Jimberly!!! 😂

Jimbolina is what you’re looking for, OP

😆

@Netruscan In the extremely unlikely event that you are serious, why not Jaime - as in Jaime Sommers - for a girl. That's a BIT like Jim huh? Smile

butterpuffed · 29/04/2024 16:52

Netruscan · 29/04/2024 11:50

She left him for a taxi driver. 😕

Oh, was it Tipz Gallore ? There's a lot of them about .

PartOfTheFurniture12 · 29/04/2024 16:56

Jima for a girl. If you have twins you can call them Two Jima.

@EatCrow Twins would surely be Jimini? 😏

Calliopespa · 29/04/2024 16:56

Another lovely way to make a male name a bit more feminine is to hyphenate with something pretty. I’m thinking of something like “Jim-Pansy.”

If you wanted a little fun with the spelling you could try that as Jim- Panzee which would be a lovely double reference if there’s a family love of primates.

Jimma
Jimmy-Sue
Jimmima

Oh I 100% vote for Jimmy-Sue!

Sorry OP, best Fred ever!

@AInightingale , Jemima isn't the feminine version of James.

Oh my bad, I didn't know that. A family member called their daughter 'Jem' (full name was Jemima) after a Jim and I always really liked it. Certainly an improvement on Jimberly!

Akamai · 29/04/2024 17:14

Jima for a girl. If you have twins you can call them Two Jima.

And if you don't hear what she says you can say 'ye wot, Jima?'

Jim-Pansy gets my vote

@mathanxiety , that is specific to one person called Nigella. The name itself is from the plant.
Her sisters' names are nice IMO.

That's the one person you were referring to...

jellybe · 29/04/2024 17:31

Assuming h Gandfather was a James called Jim why not call her Jamesina the female version of James. Or give her that as a middle name to honor him and then give her her own name that is just hers.
