Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hmmm, I like it more now.

I am a wandering celt and my son is the son of a single mother. I've never rowed from Glasgow to Ireland though.

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 02/04/2008 17:49

Cruel is just the beginning. Horribly pretentious too, if we were doing the 'if your name is linda you work in a hospital thread' we'd be saying

If your name is Mungo you aren't bright but it doesn't matter because daddy bought a job in the city for you. You'll never be lost in a crowd because people will always be able to track your braying laugh and identify you by your trademark pink trousers'

Do I need to continue...

I wish I could row from Glasgow to Ireland and lose some winter flab.

Spiteful?! I don't think I'm alone in not liking it. OP didn't say it was the name of her child. I do think it is pretentious.

Um yes. Have you?!

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 02/04/2008 17:58

15.43 post is along the same line as me and you didn't jump on them or any of the other posts who said they didn't like it.

Mind you, I'm roaring with laughter at the idea of my husband buying our son a job. I wish to God he'd buy me one while he's about it.

Just send us the cheque...

OrmIrian · 02/04/2008 18:22

Has anyone mentioned Blazing Saddles yet?

Almost certainly but I'm too lazy to check.

It is cruel.

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 02/04/2008 18:23

There now you see. Everyone in high paid jobs and all happy. If you have any going spare my ds excels in roaring and lining stuff up...essential for any hospital consultants post surely?

Twinkie1 · 02/04/2008 18:25

My labradoodle is called Mungo - well I don't have one yet, DS and DD are still working on DH to get one but that is what DD wants to call it - DS wants to call it Elvis!

Beachcomber · 02/04/2008 18:38

Am neither pretentious nor cruel nor nepotistic (word?)and would have named my DDs Mungo had either of them been a boy.

I am Scottish but live in France, and it was my French husband who came up with the name Mungo. I love it. We asked both our French and Scottish families what they thought (due to it being a very old fashioned name) and they all liked Mungo. As it turned out both DCs were girls and ended up as Ella and Rose, both simple common names.

If you like it, go for it. I would love to think that there is a Mungo out there somewhere!

We read up on the history of Saint Mungo (we used to live in Glasgow) and that only convinced us even more that we love the name. If we ever have a DS (unlikely) we would still go for Mungo (even after reading this thread!!!!).

Beachcomber · 02/04/2008 18:43

Forgot to answer the question!

Mungo is WAY cool. Mungo is cooler than a very cool thing, Mungo rocks.

No sorry. Screams "middle class, trying to be different". But then I prefer dull chart topping names.
