AURGH rogue apostrophe!
Possibly my first one ever!
Murdina has had a seriously bad effect on my countenance

pointydog · 02/04/2008 23:18

I have never known a Murdina. But they exist in northern remote places of Scotland. Maybe I can find you one.

DragonPeaHead, what should I call my children? I really want your advice. Whatever you tell me to call them, I will do what I'm told.
Seriously!

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 23:21

Somebody I know has an aunt Magina.

pointydog · 02/04/2008 23:22

[[http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/mar/13/weather aha!] From the guardian. A Western Isles gal.

pointydog · 02/04/2008 23:23

here

pointydog · 02/04/2008 23:24

These are Scottish names. That's why some of you are having difficulty in hearing their beauty.

mybabysinthegarden · 02/04/2008 23:25

4 Mungos in Scotland in 2007--it's on the up! Avoid, it's obviously the new Dylan!

MadameC, Murdo is an old Scottish name. Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it's, like, made up.

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 23:25

I like Archie. I prefer Richie though.

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 23:27

No, you're right of course, but it usually does tbh. I have an abnormal interest in names.
Not something I'm proud of but I do know a lot about them.

oh bugger. Sorry. I didn't even read it, just searched for a recent name. Sorry.

DragonPeaHead · 02/04/2008 23:31

But MadameCholet, I haven't told you of any names I DO like yet (well apart from John)
I've just bitched about names I either don't like or am bored of!
I might name your children Berengaria and Diedricht and then where would you be?!

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 23:31

Dragon, sorry for accusing you of being a foreigner!! There is a geezer called Cleveland Kent Evans, google him if you're even slightly interested, if not don't worry.

I told him about the O trend for boys rolling downwards in the UK. I tell him what names I think are cool. I've been in Ireland 10 months though. I need to go back to the UK and meet some Pollys or some Belindas. I'm out of touch here.. In a sea of Emilys and Aoifes.

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 23:33

Yeah so go ON, nail your colours to the mast. Name a few names you would consider using on a real live baby. A Godson or Goddaughter perhaps. Not chav ones. GOdchildren you liked.

DragonPeaHead · 02/04/2008 23:34

I shall google
I am also a foreigner
But have been observing the english upper classes at play from behind enemy lines for many years now
I am guessing from your "O" comment that you are the Irish correspondent mentioned so fondly in "cool baby names" (promise I haven't googled yet!)
Don't think that you are going to escape the Emilys by coming to the UK, you will be sadly sadly disappointed...

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 23:34

Wisteria and Maestricht is a more user-friendly version of your suggestions I think! Doesn't go with my sur name....

DragonPeaHead · 02/04/2008 23:35

oh no I see he has a whole society behind him!

Hmm. If I had an English godson I would call him Miles.
If I had an English goddaughter I would call her Virginia.

How did I do?

MadameCh0let · 02/04/2008 23:37

Hmmmm so what nationality are you then? You are definitely tuned into the zeitgeist.

Waiting for name suggestions. What is an acceptable name in this day and age

DragonPeaHead · 02/04/2008 23:39

I am a citizen of the world

And you are crossposting

Ledodgy · 02/04/2008 23:39

reminds me of Mary, Mungo and Midge

mybabysinthegarden · 02/04/2008 23:40

jajas, I'm the opposite, get these names out into the world and spread 'em round, I say! (As the American mother of Scottish baby with Welsh name)

DragonPeaHead · 02/04/2008 23:40

Oh and I couldn't give a toss what is acceptable to anyone else

That would be FAR too much like a middle class attitude
