Octavia for my baby girl?

Hi all I already have a 5 year old daughter called Scarlett and I’m due with my second girl this summer.

I like so many names but I Absolutely love Octavia and i just can’t stop thinking of it despite some peoples mixed reactions lol. I’m just looking for any opinions really and first impressions of the name. My choice including middle name would be -

Octavia Dawn 🎀

her nicknames could be Ottie, Avie, Tay or Tavia which I think are super cute xx

I hate Dawn with a passion, it's unfortunately my middle name too. Are there any other middle name options, I don't think the names go that well, aside of. my dislike of the name.

I’m open to suggestions it’s a family members name I’m not the biggest fan either other ideas I had were Grace, Noelle, raine or Isabel x

It's a beautiful name. Dawn is very pretty too.

(But I must admit, the name Octavia makes me think of Skoda Octavia, the car.)

I adore Octavia, I even considered it for DD! Fresh, cool & classy. Great nickname potential too

Dawn doesn’t suit it in my opinion - too dull + overused compared to such a bright and unique name

I absolutely LOVE Octavia and I would have used it 25 years ago for my daughter but my husband wasn't keen. Sorry to say, I also really dislike Dawn. Don't ruin a beautiful name like Octavia with Dawn as a middle name.

I love Octavia and think Dawn works gine with it.

Octavia is a beautiful name. Classic but unusual. I particularly like it with Grace.

Immediately thought of Skoda Octavia

Love it. It was my main choice for my DD but my husbands choice was a better fit overall (and he couldn’t get over it sounding like the car).

i personally wouldn’t choose Dawn as it’s my mums name 😂it’s also a bit harsh with such a prominent first name. Grace fits much better but it’s your choice!😍

If you love it, you should use it. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks - once she’s here it will just be who she is and everyone will get used to it.

However it is a shame the Skoda is so popular.

I like it but personally wouldn't use it unless they were my 8th child or were born on the 8th, maybe if they were born at 8 o'clock I might...

there are many children named after cars Clio, Lincoln, Morgan, Ariya.

Might be a bit if a mouthful with Octavia but Aurora is the Roman goddess of the dawn

I know an Octavia, she’s 7 yo. Tavi for short. Beautiful name! Agree I wouldn’t pair it with Dawn though - they don’t really sound right together.

Sorry but I find it pretentious sounding, I’d cringe a bit if I had to introduce myself as Octavia. Sorry, just a personal opinion of course, and it might change if I knew someone with the name.

I thought of Octavia Hill, one of the National Trust founders.

middle names - they only get used for forms, when you get married and when you really get told off, so it doesn’t need to be as pretty as many say, if Dawn is a family name and you want to remember that person with your DDs name, then go with that.

I'm not fond of it, I think it's quite a solemn name.
However as pp said when if you love it use it. People will get used to it.

I have a name that sounds a bit like Octavia (in that on paper it sounds incredibly posh). I sometimes feel a bit of a twat saying my name. It helps when people ask where it's from and I can say it's because my Dad is Russian but personally would hate to introduce myself as Octavia.
Tavi is very cute though and maybe you are very posh and can pull it off!

I immediately think of Skoda too. I think it works quite well with more modern names, so Octavia Brooklyn, Octavia Hadley, etc.

Octavia is lovely - I knew two when I was growing up. Both of them were nicknamed 'Tavvy' by their friends though which would put me off using it a bit.

Unlike several pp I actually really like Dawn for a middle name.
