Hi all I already have a 5 year old daughter called Scarlett and I’m due with my second girl this summer.

I like so many names but I Absolutely love Octavia and i just can’t stop thinking of it despite some peoples mixed reactions lol. I’m just looking for any opinions really and first impressions of the name. My choice including middle name would be -

Octavia Dawn 🎀

her nicknames could be Ottie, Avie, Tay or Tavia which I think are super cute xx

Love octavia grace from your list. I think the one syllable works best

WoodBurningStov · 28/04/2024 10:03

It was one of my favourite names for a girl. I think it lovely

StarLight201 · 28/04/2024 10:28

I am not a fan of Octavia, but the nicknames you have mentioned are lovely. Ottilie would lend itself well to Ottie too, just to throw that in the mix.

Middle name wise I would say Octavia Grace.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/04/2024 10:41

I wanted it on our list but a. I had a Xavier already b. I had another boy 🤣

Anyway, I think it's great. There IS the car thing but I think it surpasses that and kids will bully other kids for any reason they invent. Love Octavia Grace

Mudflaps · 28/04/2024 10:42

Octavia is a Superb name but no, I wouldn't use it for a child with the car model being so popular where I live. I genuinely met at least one every trip I make

35andThriving · 28/04/2024 11:25

Octavia is lovely. Octavia Alice is a really good combo, in my opinion.

MerryChristmasToYou · 28/04/2024 11:26

Octavia Dawn - Ok but I'm not keen on it.
Octavia Alice - Octavier-alis
Octavia Noelle - Noelle a bit too Chritamassy
Octavia Grace - nice but Grace is too popular as a middle name

Octavia makes me think of Octopus, sorry.

Heatherbell1978 · 28/04/2024 11:26

Immediately thought about the car!

BasketsandBunnies · 28/04/2024 12:29

DS has a flamboyant, boho and very UC friend called Octavia and somehow it really suits her. She also has a nickname (like Pooky but not Pooky) but nothing to do with her given name, as is often the case in such circles. Think you need quite a big personality to pull it off tbh.

purplehills32 · 28/04/2024 12:37

I really like it 🤩

Overthebow · 28/04/2024 12:41

Isn’t it a Skoda?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/04/2024 14:32

Love Octavia - very elegant. I personally don’t think the car matters at all. And I think Dawn is nice for a middle name if it’s honouring a family member (yes, a bit dated as a name but objectively the natural imagery is pleasant). As long as your surname doesn’t begin with a D!

Berlinlover · 28/04/2024 14:47

One of the worst names I’ve ever heard, sorry OP.

Mummyfry · 28/04/2024 19:56

Sorry I really don’t like the name Octavia either! It sounds so pretentious and is a mouthful (and we knew someone who was a complete b*tch called Octavia) - that’s just my opinion , if you like it you should just go for it. No one will think every name is perfect (we recently went through the naming thing ourselves and some people think the name we chose it terrible and others loved it!)

Dawn is a lovely sweet name ! Love it

UtterlyQuackers · 28/04/2024 20:04

I love Octavia. I wanted to name my youngest Octavia. Husband said it was a shit car. We agreed on a different name in the end as he was so against it.

OopsieeDaisy · 28/04/2024 22:29

Sorry, I agree with others who have said it sounds pretentious and I’d also hate to have to introduce myself as Octavia. Ottilie is a much nicer alternative imo which could also be shortened to Ottie. However if you love it, use it.

KayEmAy · 30/04/2024 00:28

I LOVE Octavia!

One of my favorite shows has a main character named Octavia, her big brother called her "O" ❤

MerryChristmasToYou · 30/04/2024 09:59

It's much nicer than Ottilie.

creatureofcomfort · 30/04/2024 10:41

I know one Octavia and she goes by Tavistock.

creatureofcomfort · 30/04/2024 10:42

Oh god no she doesn't go by Tavistock, she goes by Tavie.
My phone changes that.

Italianasoitis · 30/04/2024 10:44

I prefer the Italian Ottavia as it think it's softer
