Opinions on the name Milo for a boy? I love it but just questioning the wearability on an adult, but not sure if I’m overthinking it.

Where is Otis?- joke, todays children probably won’t know the movie

amylou8 · 19/04/2024 15:49

I just picture a giant purple Tweenie with dreadlocks, so it wouldn't work for me. I'm guessing they're not a thing anymore?

wintersgold · 19/04/2024 15:56

Cute name, but for pets IMO

Seashor · 19/04/2024 16:30

It’s not my cup of tea, it sounds a bit babyish. But it does have a lovely meaning.

caringcarer · 19/04/2024 17:18

I'd names Miles and nn Milo. As an adult the man might be grateful to you.

Sunnnybunny72 · 19/04/2024 17:45

No. Tweenies.

WhenWillItAllGetBetter · 19/04/2024 18:56

It’s a bit of a naughty boy name in my opinion

TM1979 · 19/04/2024 19:04

All I will ever think of is the very annoying Milo from The Tweenies. It’s a no from me.

Goldfishonabike · 19/04/2024 19:10

Milo is the dog in”the mask” so I couldn’t go w it.
how about Milan or Maximillian or Max for similar feelings?
saying that my DS has an impossible name which is well known from a movie franchise but he has it for an unrelated reason and we came up w it on the spot when he was born due to unforeseen circumstances that just made the name seem right for him. It’s out of fashion, rare and linked to a superhero, but he loves it and we never had any comments on it (although who know behind our back lol)but DS is a happy and thriving boy with lots of friends so the name doesn’t seem to have done any harm.

there will never be consensus on a name as choices are so personal, unless you go for one of the currnelt most popular names, you can check the lists and then feel safe.

Name your kid Milo if you want he will be fine!

YES!!! 😍😍😍

Sweeties1989 · 19/04/2024 19:37

I like it for 3 year old boys. 21 year old not so much.

Roryhon · 19/04/2024 19:39

I know a lot of horses called Milo.

watchingsmurfs · 19/04/2024 19:41

I love it!

(It’s my dog’s name)

BingoMarieHeeler · 19/04/2024 19:41

Surely the hypothetical Milo can flip to Miles if they want something more grown up.

Sliiim · 19/04/2024 20:14

It’s a no for me personally but if you like it then go for it😇
As long as you are happy, that’s all that matters!

AlwaysGrateful · 19/04/2024 20:48

Cute name but makes me think of a dog 🐶

SabreIsMyFave · 19/04/2024 20:51

It's a no from me sorry @User85468

I know 2 cats with that name. (Sorry.)

Mangobrango · 19/04/2024 20:54

DanceMove · 19/04/2024 13:03

Milo isn't a nickname for 'Miles', though.

It is how I referred to my friend Miles for years! He was always called Milo.

outlandishly · 19/04/2024 21:54

Works very well for Milo Ventimiglia 😍

Milo - yes or no?
Needmorelego · 19/04/2024 22:12

I like the name.
One of my daughters classmates at primary had a baby brother called Milo and my first thought was "what a lovely name".
For those saying it's not suitable for a grown up - there's a character in a long running crime novel series called Milo. The first books were published in the early 1980's. If the character was a real person he would be in his 70s or possibly even 80s now.

Justkeeprollingalong · 19/04/2024 22:12

I don't know any cats, dogs or horses called Milo. It's a great name for a boy!

NamingConundrum · 19/04/2024 22:15

Animal name for me! Could go Maximilian which could be shortened to max, milo or miles

Notreat · 19/04/2024 22:34

RebelWithCause · 19/04/2024 13:00

No, you're not overthinking it. It's 'cutesy', a bit try-hard and overused What's wrong with the more grown-up 'Miles'? You could always use Milo as a nn if you must.

Milo is nice and I think it's fine for an adult I don't think it sounds babyish at all.
I don't like Miles at all it has a completely different feel than Milo

User85468 · 20/04/2024 00:04

Thanks for all the responses and suggestions. Miles wouldn’t be an option as it doesn’t work with our surname, it needs to be two plus syllables really.

Just want to settle on a name I love but perhaps I’m being too fussy - boys names are hard! 😂
