Is Zoe dated?

I've suggested so many names and dh dislikes them all.
He has suggested Zoe which I don't love but could probably live with but is it a bit dated?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I love Zoe! Although it’s past its peak of popularity, I would class it as one of those names that has stood the test of time and will stay semi popular for a long time. Familiar but not overused.

Ticktapticktap · 09/04/2024 18:06

It's a lovely name!

Age wise it's in the same world as Megan, Sarah and Hannah but not in the same world as Debbie, Yvonne or Carol

Zoesmumma · 09/04/2024 18:07

Not really. It’s popular in our area though with 3 in our small primary school with my Zoe (now a teenager) and I know a little one. Also know a 20something and a few in their 40s.

I don’t think it’s dated but I’m biased! I think it’s ageless, but I was hoping it wasn’t as popular as it turned out to be!

Orangexhest · 09/04/2024 18:09

I don’t think it was ever popular enough to be particularly dated. I think it’s a lovely name.

Moveoverdarlin · 09/04/2024 18:11

I’ve always liked Zoe, but I only know ones in their 40s and 50s.

DramaAlpaca · 09/04/2024 18:14

It's not dated at all. It's timeless. And it's a lovely name.

LauderSyme · 09/04/2024 18:15

No, not at all dated.

Zoe (or Zoë if you like) is a classic, timeless name. It is ancient Greek for 'life' so has been around for millennia but imo is still fresh and lovely 🙂

NoLostCause · 09/04/2024 18:18

I don't think so. We know four Zoe's aged 5 and under. It's a good name and works for all ages.

NewShoes · 09/04/2024 18:35

Beautiful name :-)

BingoMarieHeeler · 09/04/2024 18:37

I know 2 born in the same month of 2022, one being my DD 😄 it works for all ages, can imagine it on newborn and 90 year old. Everyone knows it. Everyone likes it (except you it sounds like 😂). Friendly. Far from overused. Fun with the ë.

Seriously don’t choose a name you could ‘live with’ for your lovely DD.

UltramarineViolet · 09/04/2024 18:40

I know several in their 40s or 50s but I also know a 21yo called Zoe

I like it and don't feel it has ever been popular enough to become dated in the way that some names do (Karen, Lisa, Michelle, Julie etc)

fightingthedogforadonut · 09/04/2024 18:56

I think it's back in vogue. I know one who is 18 months.

Wallabyone · 09/04/2024 18:57

Beautiful name, classic and lovely.

Lucia573 · 09/04/2024 18:59

I think it’s lovely. I also like Chloe.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/04/2024 19:04

Not at all, there's a wee Zoe in my nursery class right now. I think you're just ahead of the curve!!

Sunnnybunny72 · 09/04/2024 19:15

My best friend is Zoe. She's 51.

SingingSands · 09/04/2024 20:04

It's a favourite of mine - have always loved it and was so close to choosing it for DD because I had a dream whilst pregnant that I'd named my baby Zoe. In fact I still ruminate on that! Team Zoe here ❤️

OnHerSolidFoundations · 09/04/2024 20:07

Makes me think of the blood sugar app thing now.

OnHerSolidFoundations · 09/04/2024 20:07

Prefer Chloe.

KoolKookaburra · 09/04/2024 20:12

It's great it's like hannah or Rachel or Megan. It's a girls name without being twee or flowery.

LaPalmaLlama · 09/04/2024 20:12

LOVE Zoe and dd (12) has 2 friends called Zoe/ Zoey. I shortlisted it for dd but in the end we chose something else as Dh preferred the other name and I couldn’t decide between the two.

KoolKookaburra · 09/04/2024 20:13

I don't love but could probably live with don't settle for a name you don't at least like

Workawayxx · 09/04/2024 20:14

I love it and dont think it’s dated at all. I think it technically needs to have an accent of some sort otherwise it should be pronounced like “sew” but i think it’s nicer and simpler as Zoe.

WishesPromised · 09/04/2024 20:14

I think Zoe is timeless and lovely. There are never very many of them. It's classic and classy.

Lalupalina · 09/04/2024 21:34

I'd spell it Zoë

Otherwise it might rhyme with Joe Grin
