Thoughts on our boys names please

We have a short(ish) list of boy names and welcome both opinion and further ideas.

We adore but cannot use Laurence or Owen. We also like but cannot use Arthur, Matthew or Henry.

Ethan - Bible name. OK but might be said as Effun
Gabriel - too long. Will be Gabe. Not keen.
Eric - great
George - very popular but classic
Jonah - and the whale. Not keen.
Zachary - will be Zac, which is OK. Not keen on Zach.
Louis (pronounced lou-eee) - fine

George seems more in line with the other names you like.

Gabriel is my favourite. I love it!

If you adore but cannot use Owen, what about Euan? Evan? Rohan?

George is handy, just buy all his clothes in Asda and save money on name tags.

What a nice list!

I'm not overwhelmed by Eric, and I'd have concerns about the huge popularity of George and Louis, with the royal connection. But I'd still happily use them if they were a favourite.

Ethan and Gabriel would be my top choices from the list.

What about Benedict?

Ethan - this seems to be quite popular. Most of the little Ethans I know are… let’s say, not the best behaved children.
Gabriel - nice but popular. I know quite a few little Gabriels.
Eric - cute. Probably a bit of a Marmite name.
George - classic, lovely.
Jonah - love it
Zachary - I’m not a fan but can’t put my finger on why.
Louis - popular. A bit ‘meh’.

It doesn’t help but Laurence, Matthew, Owen and Henry are all fab!

Zachary - its ok, Zach is quite cool, feels a bit 90’s though
Louis - love this, gorgeous, cool sound, suits young and old.

Personally, I’m not keen on Ethan, Gabriel or Jonah (can’t see past the whale connection) and I don’t like Louis, although I’m definitely in the minority!

George and Louis. Gabriel is usually shortened to Gay here in Ireland so not that popular anymore.
