Thoughts on our boys names please

We have a short(ish) list of boy names and welcome both opinion and further ideas.

We adore but cannot use Laurence or Owen. We also like but cannot use Arthur, Matthew or Henry.

Ethan
Gabriel
Eric
George
Jonah
Zachary
Louis (pronounced lou-eee)

I'm shocked by all the people liking Eric. I teach one and he is relentlessly taken the piss out of for the name... unsurprisingly I thought as it's horrible! But it's clearly due a resurgence and it's been widely well received here.

Really? He gets teased for Eric?! Poor thing! It’s a family name on my partners side and I thought it was a great name!

I like Zachary best, that was on my boy shortlist x

I was going to suggest Caleb too, it's my son's name and I love it.

Ethan - it’s nice but I feel a bit dated now
Gabriel - not a fan
Eric - not a fan
George - common but lovely

I have a Laurence / Laurie so feel that we have similar taste .
I personally love Gabriel and Louis .

I like Louis, not keen on the rest. I still associate George with old whiskery men even though I know it's popular again.

I wouldn't be worried about the Royal connection, by the time George is King, Louis will be Duke of Edinburgh (or sone other Dukedom....) rather than Prince Louis.

Gabriel- middle class, annoying parents
Eric- er no idea. only know men in their 60's
George- yawn
Jonah- mid Atlantic, parents think it sounds cool

Zachary - every one has been entitled
Louis - nicest but massively overdone..
